Check Engine light after Injen CAI

Hey all, I have a Vibe GT. I purchased the TRD exhaust and the Injen Cold air intake. After installation, my check engine light came on. I reset the ECU using the power cable, but still it returns. I took the car up to Autozone to have the light read and it stated that the engine is running lean and all four cylinders are miss-firing. Any of you have that same problem? If so how do I fix the problem?

I haven't had that problem with my Injen CAI. I'd check the MAF sensor to make sure it wasn't messed up when you transferred it from the stock box to the CAI pipe. Also, check to make sure all the vacuum lines are hooked up or pluged correctly. I believe the GT CAI install requires one vacuum line to be plugged. If not, the engine will get air that does not get filtered and does not pass the MAF. In doing that you get 1: dirty air in the engine and 2: more air in the engine than the engine thinks it's getting. That causes a lean condition. Just like what your computer is telling you.

Make sure your MAF sensor is not installed in backwards. If the air flow is going in to the MAF from the exit side it will through a check engine light. Where was your inlet air temp sensor installed at?Also as small as it sounds check your sensor plugs. Are they pluged in? Has a wire been cut. Was a plug or sensor damaged when installing the CAI?Make sure nothing else was damaged or came loose when installing the CAI.

I have run into the same problem with my CEL. I installed the TRD CAI in my Vibe GT last weekend and it came on. Were you able to get your CEL to go off? If so, what did you do?I had a 2001 Tundra that had the K & N FIPK on it and the CEL did the same thing. I never got the light to go out.

quote:I just talked to Injen and they said that Adventon.com is not a authorized dealer. So if you buy their products with them, they are not warrantied. If you buy from ptuning.com, they are warrantied. I mean, there may be a $40 dollar difference, but I would rather be safe than sorry. That actually is not the case.I investigated this prior to purcahsing. The product is warrantied regardless of who it was purchased from. However, the process of making a warranty claim, repair, or replacement is different when purchasing from an authorized dealer. It's easier to get a warranty issue resolved when using an authorized dealer as opposed to not.

I've heard that just unhooking the battery won't work. my CEL been on since May. I was told by a Toyota dealership that we have to have teh factory reset it in the computer. then it SHOULD go off.

well I tried unhooking the battery and ........It worked no CEL anymore. I wonder if tromping on it coming out of work when it was 90+ degrees out today and sitting for 8 hours in the heat had anything to do with it.

I dunno. I've retightened, re-installed, and tried disconnecting the battery several times. nothing yet. goes off for maybe a day, but then comes back on. any suggestions? I may just have to break down and go in to the dealership.

quote:I talked to Injen personally... There would be no warranty... I spoke to the Vice President of Injen...Tell the VP they need to get their stories straight then. They're giving out bad info. And it's not good business to sell products to dealers if you're only gonna warrant it from certain dealers. Flat out wrong IMHO.

Check all the vacuum lines. and make sure the sensor is screwed in tight. Also make sure its sitting in the throttle body tight, and if you have a GT check to make sure the vacuum line is capped on the throttle body.
