If the pet rides in the front seat, and you're in a collision, your pet could be killed if the airbag deploys.

While I don't recommend driving or riding without a seatbelt buckled, It can easily be disabled by cutting the wires that are on the seatbelt buckle. Just remember, "Click it, or Ticket!"

I wear my seatbealt but i think that the state is stupid (PA) they got rid of the motorcycle helmet law but have this new click it or ticket law. (althought it is a secondary offense they cant pull you over for not wearing it they can just ticket you if you do something else) anyway i think if people are allowed to choose if they can wear a helmet they should be able to choose to wear a seatbelt. as for disabing the light on the dash i would say that would be hard to do without dismantiling the dashboard. you could however go to a junkyard orparts store and find a seatbelt with the same end on it and then just plug it into the seatbelt and the car would think you were wearing your seatbelt. Thats prolly the best solution because it is also easily reversable

Wear your seatbelt Dude...I watched a woman die on Sept. 7, 2001 after getting into a headon with someone right in front of me. She wasn't wearing a seatbelt. Her body anialated the steering wheel.I will never forget her pleading eyes looking at me for help... I will never forget the blood or the way her chest was completly crushed. I could do nothing for her.Don't put someone else through that.

Exactly....very simple to disable the passenger light, not sure about the driver's.And guys, I'm sure he's old enough to make a personal decision on whether to wear a seatbelt or not. Please don't go preaching to him, just either answer the question or don't.

Oh. I'm sorry, was I preaching? From now on I guess I'll pretend to not give a crap about fellow Vibers and give cold informative answers. If one person actually thinks twice about what I wrote and their life is saved because of it, then wouldn't that be worth the "preachin?"

I'm all about seat belts, but I also understand that an internet post is most likely NOT going to change the habits/opinions of a grown man. I prefer to avoid the drama.

It's not a very good way to attract new members by flat out insulting them when they ask a question is it? We all know it is against the law (in most places) to drive without a seatbelt. However it become a personal choice as to whether or not you want to adhere to the law. I think it is a great idea to wear your seatbelt, it definately saves lives. However if the government is as concerned as they are about saving lives, why not ban motorcycles, after all they don't have seat belts. While they're at it why not ban convertables without built in roll bars? Could it be the insurance lobbyist? Most people know it is safer to wear a seat belt. If a person wants to make a suggestion as to why a seatbelt is better I think that there is a right way to do it and a wrong way. I mean if we are all law abiding Vibe drivers here, why do we have a racing forum? Just an observation.

I took most of the posts in this thread as "I don't believe in the morality of this modification, so I won't contribute to it." However, rather than not replying and leaving him frustrated BECAUSE there are no replies, we're simply saying how we feel, so he understands. There were probably a few posts that were a bit heated, but overall, I think the tone of the thread was pretty calm...IMHO anyway...

I agree that most posts were pretty much as you mentioned. I also agree, that if you don't beleive in a mod, you can say as much and let it go. I think that was just my point. Enforcing morality is an uphill battle. You are right though, looking back the tone was fairly calm in most posts compared to a few others I remember...

I believe if you read through all the flaming, and get to the point..the verdict is this:Passenger flasher: You can pull up on the trim panel around the radio, angle it slightly upwards, then slightly out. You need to be careful because there isn't much play with the AC controls. You can either unplug the harness all the way to the right (behind the pass flasher), or pull the flasher out, and cover it with electrical tape.Driver flasher - Arguably, the easiest method to disable this is most likely to unplug the wiring harness under the driver seat that's going to the buckle. Although, it's possible that some extra tinkering might need to happen to do this, as it probably closes a circuit when the belt is clicked in. We can most likely figure out a bypass.I don't condone not wearing seatbelts, and i'd be concerned for the pet as well. I often have my fiancee's dog in the front seat, but i'm also extra careful when I do. However, I agree with drunkenvibe, what you do is your own business.

i unplugged the passenger side light, and i put a small pieceof black tape over the driver's side, hey it works for me.and by the way i agree with you,in ky wearing a seatbelt is a law,BUT,it's a secondary offinse, cops aren't allowed to pull you over and give youa ticket just for that, heck i have friends that are cops and they don't wear them either, thank god some of us still have ''FREEDOM OF CHOICE''

in IL, you can get pulled over for it! we have ad the seatbelt law for many years now, everyone else is finally adopting it. by the way, when you get pulled over, admitting you weren't wearing your seatbelt is a great way to con the cop into giving you a ticket for that instead of speeding!

Here in OKlahoma, there is no helmet laws, and yet I have to wear my seatbelt (which I do anyway) I was an EMT while stationed in VA and my dad has been an EMT/Firefighter for 25 years. WHile I don't think that seatblets should be mandatory for people over 16 (I believe in Darwinism....the stupid shall be punished), after seeing a couple of really bad wrecks, you will never leave the house with out it (helmet or seatbelt).Just Food for thought.......

Anyone figure out how to disable the seatbelt buzzer on the '05s yet? I always wear my seatbelt, but I live on a deadend street and I get out of my car to get the mail then drive up to the house. That buzzer is extremely annoying. I beeps slowly at first then beeps faster till it finally stops. I just want to disable it all together... I think I know when I am wearing my seatbelt and I don't need a buzzer reminder.

Careful Toasted7 you might start another wave of non-seat-belt-wearer bashing.Hey, everybody knows that the ONLY reason that you would need to disable the buzzer is because you are not wearing your seat belt. After all, if you were a good moral seat-belt-wearer then you would also take the time to plug in the passenger seat belt anytime you wanted to set something on the seat next to you that might trigger the buzzer right?OK. Enough sarcasm. I think a mod for this is a good idea but...There are several problems in the way. The seat belts are tied into the airbag system so fiddling with the wires to the belts could cause failure of or even triggering of the seat belts. The next problem is that the buzzer is multi-purposed and mounted permanently to the back of the instrument cluster. You cannot simply unplug it and if you did disconnect it you would lose it's other useful features such as headlight and key-in-ignition reminders. There are probably other functions for it that I am not thinking of at the moment. So, here is the idea I proposed in another thread some time back.Locate and clip the lead that pulses the buzzer. Run wire from both ends to a relay that is normally closed. When the relay is not energized the buzzer would work as it normally should. When the relay is energized it breaks the connection to the buzzer. Mount a pushbutton somewhere in the car that energizes the relay and have the relay latch itself on once it has power so that it stays even when the button is released. Have the power line for the latching circuit tied to a switched ignition line so that when the ignition is turned off again the relay closes again and normal function returns to the buzzer so that those headlight/key-in-ignition warnings work again and the system is ready for your next drive.A little more complicated but what "I" would do is to make a relay circuit that toggles power/no-power when a single button is pressed. The power to that circuit would be ignition switched for the above reasons but the benefit is that when you push the button the first time it shuts off the buzzer and when you press it again it turns it back on so you do not have to shut off the ignition to reset it. And, it would always reset when the ignition is turned off anyway so you would not forget to turn it back on again.

there is a procedure to disable the beep on 05+ models only. like the previous post mentioned, it only disables the beep. as usual, the sensors in the passenger seat will disable the airbag if there is an unbuckled person in the passenger seat.

in virginia. not wearing a seat belt, is a primary offense and warrants a fine. i agree that people do as they want. i also think that people who chose to do illegal and dengerous acts should have to pay not a fine, but a tax. yearly. a EMT tax. fine, don't wear your seat belt, but you are going to have to pay for the services you might in the near future. lolohh yeah.. cut the yellow cables too loli laughed a lot.
