While ago I was following a conversation regarding some interior wobling noise from the pasanger compartament, I had that problem since I got the car and it was dryving me insane. Went to numerous dealers as many vibe owners did to get it fixed, but of course most service advisors, eather didn't hear anything or simply they didn't want to hear it.So after eliminating all the possibilities suggested on the threads from other owners I finly decided to remove my entire dashboard. I had some sqeeks and cracks that were so enoying in there as well, that it made me do it, after a carefull examination and numerous tests I finaly found that wobling problem. The case is in the fan assembly box, to make the story short, simply the craftmenship of certain parts is simpply terrible. I can belive the quality control actually let this through. I will get to the point.the fan assembly where the electric motor sits in a vertical possition has a oil washer spacers which makes the actual rotor loos over bumps and it hits the chamber inside creating this funnu sound almost mechanical, which leads to suspension, you think (right).By inserting one or two of these washers the problem was gone, although you have tto make sure the motor is spinig freely without having any paly. up or down once you shake it.The best way to bypass everything is to remove the clovebox undo 2 bolts that are holding the ECU, you do not need to unplug it. Remove the fan and voila, the rest is easy as long as you have some idea on electric motors....good luck..... to those that unticipated this topic....I also found bunch of other ratteling problems in the trim, which I will post later.Hint, it in the hatch......

I have a rattle that I am sure is coming from the dashboard up by the windshield somewhere near the middle. It is aggrivating me beyond belief. It is worse now that it is cold out. Maybe this is the fan problem you mention?I also have a squeaking/grinding/popping sound coming from the front suspesion, probably on the driver's side. I know this is in the suspension because if I shut the car off and turn the steering wheel side to side, it squeaks and creeks really loud. Maybe somewhere in the steering linkage? I don't know. I'll have to take it to the dealer during my Christmas break. I shouldn't have to spend my time and effort to fix something that I paid for a warranty on.Thanks for posting this info!!

That's for sure, although I just couldn't take the BS from the dealers I'll tell you.Regarding that steering noise, I wouldn't even hesitate to get it fixed, sounds like your power steering is failing or something with the ball joins, ?????I finally managed to get my rattles under control although having about 3500 rpm in third I hear some minal vibration behind the radio, I looked inside twice, but I can't find anything unless there is something rubbing that I missed. I would hate taking the dashboard out again, but I'll find it. you know it is really wonderfull feeling when all you hear is your shocks working and tires, I should of buy something german, like VW or audi, I actually started to look in to trading my appliance(the Vibe) cause I just couldn't stend the rattling, but after deep thinking I would loose a lot of money, the car really lost it's value fast, I have red with everything you can ask for and my trade in would be arround 16k it's a joke.Any way good luck with the service,
