Wow!!! I'm goiing back 15 years ago...And I still have my old Nintendo with the gun.Quote, originally posted by slbpsi63 »I was just thinking about this game the other day. How did they get that freaking gun to work on our TV ?It is simple. When you press on the button, the duck become a white square. The gun has an optical device and check if he can see this white square. if so, it send the info to the Nontendo system and the duck die...

man, that was the first nintendo game i had (mario bros./duck hunt combo). hours and hours pointing the gun at the screen and cursing the ducks when they got away. man, i hated it when that dog would laugh if you didn't shoot any.i think the gun worked kind of like a scanner. the beam it shot out bounced off the tv, back to the gun, and the gun deciphered what was hit. -anyone want to back that up or correct it? i have no actual idea, just speculating

So that explains why pointing it at the ceiling would shoot it every time...it was white.
