What is the top end of a base model? I have heard that it was computer limited at 116?Has any one hit the rev limiter? Late last night on the freeway I stepped on it at 80 and was still pulling at 110 before my exit came up. The CAI made a huge difference it freeway performance! No hesatation at all. It is amazing how steady the car is at that speed.

There are a lot of previous threads on top speed, along with some heated debate on the subject. It seems like the top speed is limited to how fast the engine can push the car through the high wind resistance (top speed is drag limited) instead of any rev limiter deal. There's also a lot of previous discussion about the accuracy of the speedometer at the top end, that it reads faster than actual vehicle speed at high speedsIf you go to try to experience what your Vibe's top speed really is, please be careful

Yea. I wonder how much a ticket would be at that speed? With my luck my next door neighbor would be the CHP to nail me.

"It seems like the top speed is limited to how fast the engine can push the car through the high wind resistance (top speed is drag limited) instead of any rev limiter deal. "There is indeed a rev limiter at around 115 mph. You can actually hear and feel it kick in.-Savoy-

I'll have to take your word for it, because I'm not going to find out first hand.

Are the tires rated as high as 115 mph?

I think people are confusing the rev limiter with the speed limiter (which, AFAIK, are independent limiters). The rev limiter keeps the engine from spinning so fast and blowing up basically. It kicks in around the 6000s I believe. Not sure if you'll hit it even at those high speeds, if you have an auto (or are in 5th or 6th with a manual), but I hit it when I manually shift through the gears with the auto. Kinda causes a stuttering in the engine. As for top speed, that I have never hit. I've never been above 100...rarely go above 85...

I got mine up around the area of 110-115 I didn't wanna push the engine much more than that. And yes the car does "float" at higher speeds especially if you tweaked the suspension

i love hearing my 4 cyl roaring at 100+, plus the resonation from the cai, man oh man. i topped out about 115, then the car basically told me to f*ck off and started to poop out.

It was the GT that everyone was debating the top speed! ...but the base vibe does indeed have a speed limiter, and it is at 115mph.....After I put the turbo on, I can still only go 115mph, ...it's just that I arrive there a lot sooner!!!!
