I've never heard of these tires before - but have a chance to get some Cooper winter tires on Saturday. Are they good? Anyone here ever use them?

We use them on all our trucks at work. They seem to be a tough and long lasting tire for commercial use. I'm not sure how they are on cars. They do seem to be a bit less expensive than other brand names.

I've never had any on a car before. I have had weveral sets of Cooper mudders on a CJ-7 and a Toyota 4x4 pickup. I thought they were damn good tires for the money. They used to have a factory about a 100 miles form here but it's been closed awhile.btw -- there are literally hundreds of tire brands in use in the US. Almost all of them are owned by one of the big major tire companies. ie, Cooper used to be an independent tire company but is probably today owned by Goodyear, Bridgestone, Michelin, etc. There really aren't many different tire companies out there anymore.

yeah. I got two new front tires 2 weeks ago. Cooper Lifeliners Touring SLE. So far the traction is much better than the Conti's on snow and rain. I plan on doing a lot of driving in the mountains this winter and I feel confident with these all season tires. They have a 70k mile warranty and cost about $180 including mounting and balancing. Might be a good cost effective alternative to buying winter tires only.

I had Cooper Cobras on my Geo Storm and loved them! They were a bit wider then stock and made my little car rip around corners.

Well I hope this can help. I remember back in the 70's my Dad put a set of Cooper's on his 1972 Cadillac and they made a whopping difference. Then in the 80's I put them on one of my cars and I was very impressed. Good Wearing , Good Ride , ----Yes I would do it all over again. Get the drift? James & Miss Bootsie

Hmm... I think it was about $130 each includes balancing and installing. I seem to be having trouble finding a lot of selection for the 16's on the Vibe. I don't want to go down to a 15' at this point.

Sorry my mistake its $138/tire. I really don't drive all that much - maybe at the most 3 nights per week when I go to the gym which is 5 minutes away. So even getting 16 inch snow tires I have to really convince my boyfriend. I don't think I can justify a whole new wheel to boot. Plus I have no where to store them. I live in an apartment.

quote:Sputnik, you should be very happy with the Cooper Tires. I do not have the Cooper M/S Snow Tire that you probobly will be getting, but I have Cooper H/T's on my truck. I think the guy on the phone said they were S/T 2 tires.

So I got my winter tires installed this morning - total came to $634 (including the taxes). I was very happy with the service. And my friend who also got the Cooper Tires this morning drove home with my all seasons to store them for me.

I have a friend who works in the Cooper Tire plant in Ohio. He admits that they are not the highest performance, nor the pinnicle of prestige. But Coopers are tremendously good for the buck, and comparable tires from other brands are simply more expensive than they are worth. Had cooper tires on all of my vehicles, except 1, in the past. I was always very pleased with them as far as quality, cost, and performance. More tire, less money. Always a good choice.

Pep Boys' Futura 2000LTE tires are the same as Cooper Lifeliners, BTW, if anybody cares... they're cheaper too... I've had very good luck with them on some other cars.Pete
