Does anyone know roughly what it would cost to have a new paint job of a different color on a 2-door Sunfire?

No idea. Prices vary wildly from place to place. I wouldn't necessarily go for the cheapest one. They all give free estimates. Take an afternoon and get some quotes.

If I wanted to paint a car another car's color, All I would need to do is ask an owner for their paint code right? The reason for my questions is I'm wanting to get my Sunfire painted from Dark Green to either Fusion Orange, Inca Gold, or Aqua. I haven't quite decided. Here's a sample pic I found of the Aqua color:

I thought that the Aqua would go better with the white gauges that light up electric blue...But I decided on the Fusion I just hope it's easy to keep clean.I would probably go good with the clear tail lights and phantom headlamp covers I'm getting for it. Hopefully it wont cost over 2k..Here's a link to the tail lights:

All I would need is the Fusion paint code right? They are all the same? Will it look exactly the same or since the paint won't be the same as I hope it's not thin like the Vibe's will it still look the same?

[QUOTE] Hopefully it wont cost over 2k..[?QUOTE]I have seen full car paint jobs as low as $600, but you can imagine how cheap that looks. I have seen them in the area of $10K, but that was a custom hot rod. I would venture to say 2K is probably a pretty fair price, if you get it done someplace other than a dealership.I took my mom's Grand Am in to the Pontiac dealer to have a scratch in the back panel fixed, and they wanted to charge me almost $1000. They tried to tell me that it would be that expensive because they would need to do all kinds of things to it. I was able to get it done at a detail paint place for less than half that amount. So I say, avoid the dealership, if you were even considering it.

Are you asking because (1) you're stuck with the sunfire and maybe a different color would make you happier with it, or (2) you think that if it was a different color you could sell it easier and then get a Vibe? I imagine that the price of a good paint job varies depending on location. Most places should give you a free estimate. Ask for references to see what quality they do.

To answer that question, Yes. I can't get the Vibe and if I do the possibility of moving out soon is gone. I still really like my Sunfire and I wont mind keeping it. I just wanted to use the money for a new car to pay the sunfire off and fix it up a bit. Then I won't have a car payment! I called today around for estimates, Minimal was 3k...!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know what to do now. I "like" the street fighter body kit with the ram air hood but I don't know if it will look good on mine in dark green. It's a pain to keep clean too.

I will also have to cast my vote for Fusion. But if I remember correctly, the GM name for that aqua color is "Bright Aqua Metallic". My 94 Grand Prix was "Medium Aqua Metallic" and was a much more "manly" color. Of all the cars I have ever owned, that one had by far the best factory finish. It looked great when cleaned, the metal flake showed and the finish had nice depth. It didn't look too bad even when it was dirty--which wasn't very often.

My Satellite Vibe has great color depth...it's just the durability that leaves a lot to be desired...
