Is T-IV transmission fluid Dexron-III compatible?

My Matrix manual specifies Toyota T-IV ATF. The guys at my local auto parts store have never heard of it, and even the Amsoil "works in everything" fluid doesn't mention being compatible with Toyota applications.Does the Vibe manual specify a different type of fluid? Is T-IV just rebranded Dexron?I'm running the rare combination of an XRS (GT) with the 4-speed automatic, which Pontiac never offered. I'm guessing that the Base Vibe with the 4-speed auto should take the same type of fluid, even if the capacity is different.------------------- update, 5 minutes later -----------------Okay, I found my answer in the Maintenance forum, not the Engine/Tranny forum. I'm an idiot for not having looked there. The post is

I went to Murray's, and they had Amsoil which will work according to the thread I linked above. But they didn't carry Toyota fluid. I'll try Auto Zone tomorrow. It would surprise me if they had it, in the past Murray's has always had a better selection.

Everyone here has provided me with such good information and insight I thought it was time I try to do the same."the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prohibits a manufacturer from requiring a consumer to use an OEM part or fluid to maintain warranty coverage unless that part or fluid is provided free." - Car and Driver Backfires October '03The way I read this, there must be an equivalent even if it is hard to locate. This doesn't answer your question but may give some leverage when trying to get info from the dealership.
