I traded in my 1991 Honda Accord, Gray, SE (leather, moon roof, cd player, etc) with 205,300 miles on it and little legs left. I had been wanting a Vibe since about October of 2002...so I made the leap when my Honda's breaks started showing signs that they'd need work I thought i'd rather put money towards a vibe than a aging Honda.

95 Dodge Neon. Great car. No troubles till 184k miles, then water pump went out and thru the timing belt causing major engine damage. Bummer, should have changed that pump. Oh-well got a Vibe now.

98 Cav Z24.It was a fun car.Just too much trouble with the front suspension.

i traded in my '99 Grand Am. It was no options on the 2.4L. The Vibe is one hell of a difference

my pride and joy... sort of... a 1991Nissan hardbody A.K.A. pick-up What a beast. I had to reuild the trans at 95k and kept it till just over 150k it sat up on 32" BFG AllTerrains, had more lights than Yankee Stadium (not realy but 5 pair of aux. lights was damn bright when they were all on!). but It was starting to leak from everywhere. The rear end was leaking, the diff. was leaking the engine was leaking oil and gas (I was able to fix the gas leak) it was seriously lacking power in the end. so I sold it to some sucker in town. Now I see it just down the street from where I work. Well He took off the front hubcaps ahich is kind of strange and he removed one of the roof lights and cracked one of the tail lights and pushed the rear bumper in. Hey his loss if he want's to trash it now.

95 Mitsubishi Galant ES, it was a piece of sh*t, but i still got $2000 out of it. It didn't even barely run.

I paid cash, no trade. But the Vibe did displace my former daily driver: an 86.5 Nissan hardbody pickup. The Pickup now sits at the curb while the Vibe gets the garage. I'd have traded, but they didn't want the truck, and since it still runs great I use it for "dirty" work and hauling that the Vibe won't handle. Kinda sad seeing it on the street, though. That truck I bought new and it provided 16 and counting years of reliable fun and work and tranportation.KSNeptune

sold my 2001 Ivan Stewart toyota tundra.... sob sob.... needed to get rid of the HUGE payment and gas/insurance bills. Wanted to stay with Toyota and its reliabiltiy. this gave me exactly what i wanted.... reliability of toyota, but with GM styling. my vibe is great, but sometimes i really miss my 4x4, especially when i pass large mudpuddles, ditches, and gravel pits...

1995 Chev Monte Carlo Z34.Really a great car. High performance, but high maintainence costs saw the end of her.Went with toyota reliability, 4 doors and a pretty tricked out 4wd system. No complaints here.I do miss the instant gratification of 210 horses trampling little ricers though.Cheers

2000 Chevy Blazer , what a pos!!! The Vibe is soooo much nicer!!!!

95 Nissan Pathfinder XE. Great truck! Never had any problems.

96 Dodge Intrepid ES. I will never buy another Chrysler product again.

2000 Sunfire GT, my only problems with the car was the radio, otherwise it ran great for the 2 years I leased it. With Zero percent financing, and early lease pull outs, I got in my vibe a year early. I guess it helps to have connections at the dealer.

98 Chevy Blazer ZR2 - Lot of fun to own, but worn out to the tune of repair costs exceeding worth at 130kD@mn shame for what that thing cost!

teal '95 cavalier. had tinted windows, same sound system i have now, chrome spraypaint on everything that would pop out. not a bad car, but certainly no vibe!

Black 1996 Cavalier. This car drove like a dream, had only 112 000Kms, fantastic sound system, tints, mags. I sold it and used the money as a downpayment. Only problem in 7 years with that car was I changed the water pump.Love my Vibe though

I traded in my first new car, a 1990 Honda Civic hatchback(284,000km). What a great car. I only had to replace a thermostat in 12 years! It still ran great, just needed more room for the kids.

Traded a 1999 Honda Civic EX (I loved that car)

I traded in my 2000 Sunfire GT. I like my Vibe GT more.

Well, looking at the postings so far, all I can say is that there is a little evidence to GM loyalty going on...6 Chevy4 Pontiac3 Nissan2 Dodge2 Honda1 Mitsubishi1 Toyota10 GM vs 9 all others.....now if it wasn't for the fact that the Vibe is really a Toyota, I would say we were onto something.

Now that the summary was done, I will add to the non-GM. I traded in a 95 Ford Taurus GL Station Wagon, with 120k miles. I had bought the car with 78k miles 17 months earlier. After initial expense to repair, I had no major expenses. I was going to need tires, brakes, etc., so I convinced my wife that the new Vibe Station Wagon was a better deal.

Good move! You will not regret it, trust us!!!

My '93 Jeep Grand CherokeeI really miss 4wd, ground clearance, any weather full throttle driving w/ no wheelspin and off roading.....ill always have a place in my heart for Jeeps.

1995 Kia Sephia. Almost got a Kia Rio... but they didn't have any available in Automatic, then I tired a Matrix, but the customer service sucked... so I have my Vibe. GM gave me 3000 bucks for the Kia... it had 198k miles on it, and the front left quarter panel was smashed... I made out on that one....

I donated my 90 Grand Am to charity (150K miles). It needed too much work, but it still ran, to even consider a trade-in & it's demise really prompted the "need" for a new car ie the Vibe. I was looking to buy foreign but with the incentives & $1600 on my wifes GM card we (I) picked the Vibe. Great car..tons of fun to drive.

A 1996 Pontiac Firefly... dealer gave me 2 grand for it plus another 1 grand for loyalty, great deal I thaught for such a errmm not great car

I gave back my 2000 Chevy Cavalier. It was my first and only car (up to the Vibe). It was a lease and the lease was up.

I don't know if this will count as a GM car...but my Vibe replaced a GEO Metro 1995 with 190200 miles on it...it actually broke down for the first time on my way home from work one day. that car was a good one it had never seen the inside of a dealer or any other shop for that matter. I changed the oil, brakes, plugs, and filters on my own.when it did break down it threw a rod and was going to cost more than it was worth to fix.

Now here's a story for y'all. I had a 1998 Chevy Malibu. Nothing spectacular, but it was comfortable, reliable, and had a nice little torquey V6.It was going to be completely paid off in two weeks when some punk @ss 15 year old kid stole it and then wrapped it around a tree at 80 MPH while running from the cops!! Turned out for the better (for me anyway) though. Very true. I almost fainted when the cops came to my house at 1:30 in the morning. I thought they were going to give me my car back and then they told me...All of us make bad decisions from time to time. Sometimes we pay more dearly than one might expect. Unfortunately the consequences of our actions are not always directly proportionate to the choices that caused them.Just my thought for the day.

Speaking of making mistakes, I totaled my 01' Mustang GT Convertable. Took insurance $ and rolled into the Vibe GT. Its a different car for sure and I miss the torque the Mustang had. But I don't miss the insurance cost or the inconvienance (rear seating sucked, no trunk space, etc). Lil stereo action, window tint, and get it lowered, and I think I'll be set.

I traded in an 85 Dodge half ton pickup with a blown head gasket. Can't really say "traded in", because they gave me token money for it, which was about what it was worth, but it was a clean way to get rid of the thing without having to worry about anybody actually trying to use it anymore.I miss having a truck, but I sure don't miss 16 mpg. Sucker was a beast to park too.

i sold my '93 chevy s10 4 door 4wd and needed a more efficient car. it was a rollover that my hubby repaired for me...i took it out on the road in '95 w/37,000mi on it and when i sold it, it had 65,000 mi. thing was dead reliable . what i miss from it is the hauling room inside, the intense heater and a/c and the ability to tow a trailer w/the 190 vortec engine it had....what i DONT miss was the miserable front seat, poor gas mileage, shift on the fly 4wd and the creaking,squeaking tailgate....it had a couple sensors replaced and had the injection system replaced and brakes/ ball joints replaced within 24mos before i sold it, otherwise nothing else....it burns me to see that the coworker i sold it to is letting it go to the dogs and is letting everyone and everything drive it into the ground....i dont think i will sell another car to a cowrker again, seeing the car at the lot everyday getting abused effects me....after she bought it all sorts of weird stuff started happening to it, like alternators freezing up and cels coming on...she had more trouble with it during her first 2 mos of owning it than i did during the 7 years i had it!!!! even before replacing the few of parts on it before i sold it, it was reliable and never stranded me. i'm hoping this car is the same!

I gave up my 1995 Toyota 4Runner.Put 105,000 miles and never went back to the dealer for anything other than to look at new ones. Faithfully changed the oil every 3K miles. Only on it's second set of tires and still had the original rear brakes. It was then I knew that it would be forever Toyota for me!

We gave up on two cars for our vibe. An 89 Honda CRX with over 200,000kms and rusted floor for $400. and an 86 VW Jetta that wouldn't start and we donated to car heaven for a $60 tax receipt. Not much of a down payment but with 0% financing who cares. Now I never want a used car again.

Well, I've got a Matrix rather than a Vibe but I moved from a 1999 Chevrolet Z28 6-spd and a 2001 Chevrolet ZR2 4x4 5-spd pickup to the Matrix XRS.
