Key's

A friend of ours lost their Vibe keys they were told it would cost $20.00 to replace the key and $40.00 for the keyless entry. They went to a local key cutter and had one made, but it will not work in the ignition but unlocks the doors. The dealer said there was a chip in the key. Is this true and is there some where to buy blanks that will work?

Great news I went to eBay and lo & behold a fob for a 2003/2004 Vibe soooo I bought it now for $12.19. With your attachment on how to program I’m half way there. Now all I need to do is find a key that works I will use this as a spare for my Vibe. I was going to add an attachment to the EBay page but kept getting an error message that the attachment contained no data, how do you add one? Thanks Silverawd26 I’ve yet to be disappointed by this great knowledge base of owners.

O.K. the keys in the new GM truck, (and I assume all GM products, )are made of metal that has a certain resistance and it varies from key to key once this key is installed it is coded into the computer. (kind of like the radios) sorry, I'd advise paying $40.00 for 2 keys incase you loose them again

Well folks I just made a key run too Lowe’s and it works just fine on all functions. Pontiac and Toyota use the same blank, I did notice that after cutting and running it thru the wire wheel there were still burrs on the cut edges so I dressed it up with a file even be fore trying it out. Now all I need is to program the fob when it arrives, will let you know how that turns out. Thanks

Thanks...You have to hold it down for a few seconds, and it just pops the back glass open.

I got Vibe FOB for BUY IT NOW 8.95 + 2.95 SHIPPING. Same guy was selling a 2004 Owners Manual. Wonder where he gets these. Hope I am not risking a receipt of stolen property charge.

I cannot find my owners manual - it's around here someplace I hope. Noticed if I unlock the doors with the remote and don't enter within about 30 seconds they relock. Is there a way to set this so the doors will lock automatically when you start driving?

That feature is more of a luxury item now, found mostly in higher-end cars such as GP and Bonneville. A couple years I'm sure it will be as standard as A/C.

You can customize such security features on my 2001 PT Cruiser - never thought of the PT as a luxury vehicle.

I was talking luxury Pontiac models. I don't know how things work outside the Pontiac realm.

My Buick Century locked the doors as soon as you put it in drive. Our Trailblazer is customizable.
