Listening to 97.1 FM Talk this afternoon and one of the topics were what are the girly cars on the road today. With ears to the speakers the first one's were Astek and PT Cruiser. I clinched my fist in hopes no one would call in on the Vibe.Damn It!!!!!Someone did.... So I would like to ask my fellow mates has anyone said this to you since you've owned it.Doesn't bother me cause they haven't seen mine.

More women own Vibe's than men I bet. That is just me noticing who is driving when I pass them. I bet that is why they said Vibe. Just like the Sunfire/Grand Am/Jeeps. By no way is a jeep a wimpy vehicle.

i've been told that before. there is some kind of misconseption that manly men have to have big fast cars. i could care less. i would drive a pink tibarron (sp?) if i liked that sort of thing. the most important thing is how I like my car

I don't see why the Vibe should be considered a "girly" car. It's very versatile and sporty. That's why I like it. While I typically see more women driving them, I seem to see more men here. Maybe because men take more interest in their cars than women, typically, I don't know. But anyone who considers the Vibe a girly car is severely limiting themselves as far as what is a "masculine" car.(Side note: If it's girly, call it girly. If it's stupid, call it stupid. But please don't call it gay. Thanks )

sounds to me that if you didn't spend $40,000.00 or more it's a girly car.

does my vibe look girly to you, mon? eh? no way! if it were purple or pink, then yes. but, this is a little sporty versatile wagon.... it rocks! girly is tne new VW Bugs, especially the convertibles, PT cruisers, anything KIA and Hyndai Accents...

Ah yes, but there is a reverse psychology to having a car that chicks like. I wish I had a dollar for every time I've had a woman say:"I love your car!". It's a great ice breaker.

id say right off the lot is can be a girlie car, but with a fe wmods it quickly turns into a more "serious" car

I don't think it's a girly car at all. Around here it seems like more of an older persons car. I see more 50 and over drivers of Vibes than 20 to 30 year olds.

I notice that too, and I find it really funny. My family has always referred to my car as "designed with someone my age in mind." Yet around here I see a lot of older people driving Vibes, and I only know one other college student who has one. The rest all belong to people either my parents' age or older, it seems.

my boss called my Vibe girlie and gay until I stayed neck and neck racing his Rustang GT (auto) from 70+ on the highway

its funny, with the square stangs, i can tell it's a v8 without looking at the pipes, just by the smell when you are behind one. seriously, i'm not trying to be a d*ck.

i wish i had a car with a rumble to it. some guy used to cruise around town here in a '70's vet and a hood wouldn't even fit on the thing because of all the stuff it had. you could literally feel the ground shake when it went by at even a slow speed.

Well, D&D are the last people that should be talking about girly cars being just the other day they were asking for opinions on how bad the winter is going to be because neither of them trust their current cars in lots of snow. That's what you get for buying a saleen mustang when you live in michigan!

It makes me mad when people apply gender to cars. I see PT Cruisers, Vibes and Sunfires (like mine) all being wanted or driven by guys. Camaros and Mustangs I see more girls driving here. I don't see how a car can be gay, I don't ever catch another truck humping on another truck. Stupid people these days...

i'm a girl and i dont think the pt or the vib are girlie cars 'cause they are both agressive in their looks ....i dont think vw beetles are either, especially in the hipo trim...now mustangs with the 4 bangers would be a candidate! i think what everyone is calling girlie cars are what we used to call secretary cars!

I thimk that you see a lot more girls driving Vibes than guys because females are MOMS. Moms have to haul kids and all their crap more than guys do. Moms don't want to look too "uncool" with a minivan, so the Vibe is the PERFECT car. I don't think that Vibes are girlie cars at all. My husband would gladly trade his pickup for my vibe in a heartbeat. The ones that say the Vibe is girlie are the ones that are driving around in a rusted out "84 mustang or Trans Am and they are fooling themselves into thinking that they are REal Men because they drive a "vintage" muscle car. Sure--they were cool in 84, but now??? Now they just say--I'm 45, I am a bus boy and I still live at my mom's house, so this is all I can afford.....just an opinion....

I agree. As I noted in my first post in the thread...if it's girly, call it girly. If it's stupid, call it stupid. But please don't call it gay. Whether it's intended to be offensive or not, there are a lot of people who really take offense at the misuse of the word like that...stereotypes are not cool.
