Attempt #5

My little trip to the dealers today left me Vibeless, of course. Suprise suprise.Atleast they were going to let me use my GM in the Driveway Cert. They would only give me 4k for my Sunfire, I owe $7300 and it's worth more than that. Since trying to sell it outright didn't work, I have no clue what to do now. And also my parents through a fit when I brought it home! But it's not really my choice for them to take the loan out and let me make payments, I can't make them do something they don't want to. With all the rebates, The $20,260 sticker price was brought down to $16,996. So I guess the Vibe is just not the car for me, Atleast right now anyways. Maybe I will try for one in a year or more or after the next time Im looking for a new car, when I might get better use for it. I guess for now I will look at something either used, cheaper, or a better deal. Thanks anyways for letting my gripe through all these attempts at getting a Vibe though!

Good luck ....sounds like you've got car fever pretty bad.....all in all though if you can't sell or trade your Sunfire for more than you owe on it you are probably best to keep it and keep paying it off....you know, a character in a Winona Ryder movie once said "Its good to want things".......I think the understanding that goes along with it is that you can't always get them (at least right away)....good luck!....

well..I figure it this way. Next month I turn 18, and I also get my college car check from my grandpa for 10k. I also finish off all my highschool credits by then (2 left!) and I can start working full time until college next Fall. By then I will see what I want. I'm not really in dire need for a Vibe, I mean, I could just get a new Sunfire cheaper and be fine with it. I just like Vibes Especially it's hard because the dealer is about 1/4 of a mile up my street across the road, So when I pull off my street, There's the Vibe poiting my way just teasing me...I hope I have enough strength to pull through, All though seeing all these Vibes here isn't helping...

You will never get a good deal for that Sunfire. There are just too many of them on the road and the resale value is crap. The only way to come out on top is to drive it until the wheels fall off. I had a Cavalier--I know you get nothin for them!!! I feel your pain.....

Yeah Sunfire's resale sucks, but I still like them. I can get a new one instead of a Vibe and next month have it paid off with no car payment. I will have about a $150 monthly payment left with the Vibe. Having no car payment will really help when I move out soon! Too bad the new Grand Prix's are so expensive, I die everytime I see a dark green one,.. I still can't stop looking over at that Fusion Orange Vibe,... But I guess in the mean time I can try and sell my Sunfire, Anyone got any good selling tips?

You can always get a fusion orange sunfire...As to reselling it, best advice I can offer is get it professionally detailed. Have it cleaned to a T, including the engine. That way, when someone comes to check it out, the car will appear to be in pristine condition, and will help improve chances of selling it.

The next town over (That had the Vibes all the time until I went to look...) has a Fusion Sunfire, It's actually a pretty aggressive looking car! The new Sfires look like Hawk's, they have Cat Eyes...Those new Ecotec motor are pretty bad azz too.

Well once again, My luck strikes. This Vibe sat on the lot for almost two months, Only one looker they said (me)..I attempted to buy it two days ago with a reasonable deal I guess, My mom said no.Well she found out we could finance it through them, and not make a payment til Jan. giving me time to sell my car and not trade it in, Making it cheaper in payments on the Vibe. Now Im all excited, For finally, For ______ sakes I get my Vibe! So I pull in, and as I'm pulling in, Someone is happily driving off in their new Fusion Orange Vibe. I almost cried.

i understand. that's why i mod my cars. i don't want to have the same thing everyone else has. also, why i went w/ a vibe. no one else has one at work or at the office building!

I can still feel myself heated from anger! It's not that Im throwing a fit about a car, It's about how you wanna stand out from others and you really can't. I was so close to getting what I want and this happens. I don't know why the hell Im not used to it by now cause it always happens to me. Now my mom says she will look at the FO Sunfire tomorrow. I really like that car but I don't wanna be in the same boat as I am now - Trying to get rid of my car and can't. There really isn't but about 5 2nd gen Sunfire's like mine here though. But If I get the FO Sunfire I will wait a month and there will be 3 others in that color here!! And everytime I see that Vibe or any other one I will beat myself for not getting a Vibe..

You've had some tough luck trying to get a Vibe, but I know of two things that you should be grateful for. First, you already have your own car that works fine and meets your needs. It may not be what you want, but it's running fine, and gets you where you need to go. Pretty lucky for a 17 year old. Second, and more important, Mom cares, is involved with you and trying to help you make the best decision. Definitely not something to take for granted these days. (I know you appreciate these things. )Hang in there bro, it must be frustrating, but on the scale of what is really important, it's just a hassle, not a disaster.

I understand, and you're right. It's just a big let down to want a Vibe for so long, then get the chances to have one and then not.
