From the book, it looks like it's screwed in to the side of the engine, sort of under the back right corner of the engine cover, on the driver's side of the engine (not the fan or firewall side, but sticking out the transmission side)Are you having oil pressure problems?

I bought the service manual. I'd post a pic but there's that whole copyright thing. If I get a chance tomorrow when it's hopefully not so dark, I'll try to take a pic of the engineOn the vibe, since there's only the idiot light for oil pressure, the pressure sender is a switch, provides a ground to light up the light when the oil pressure is too low. Looking at the wiring diagrams, the pressure sender switch is only connected to the idiot light, not through the computer, so changing out the pressure switch with a real sending unit for a gauge will only affect the idiot light, and shouldn't throw any check engine lights. Perhaps you can get creative with some plumbing and come up with a "T" so you can have the switch for the idiot light and also the sender for the gauge

Well, either my book or I was confused last night. Looked at the car, and the sender is not on the cylinder head , but is in the oil filter adapter, just above the oil filter, sticking out towards the front of the car, which makes it really easy to see and work on. Did a quick test, ignition on, but car not running. Disconnected shown wire and oil light went out. Used a piece of wire to ground the shown wire, and light came back on. Book says light comes on when oil pressure is at/below 3 psi.Where do you think you'd mount the gauge?

You didn't mention if it's a mechanical or electric gauge. I installed my vacuum gauge in the flip-out compartment near the driver's left knee, but you might not want a copper or even a plastic pressure line flexing every time you opened the compartment. The main trick will be an appropriate adaptor/"T" fitting at the block. With the right adaptor for the sender, an electric gauge would be easier to hook up.
