So I typed in the SC part number (12498927) on gmpartsdirect.com and one came up for $2545. plus their ridiculous s/h charge of $509 makes it more than the dealer quote. So after reading all the threads (NO MAYBE'S!!! If the Supercharger is $2500-$3000, Who will get one?)about how long you've been waiting and would fork out the money as soon as they are available, who's going to get one?

I seriously thought about getting one but the price to performance ratio just isn't there to justify it enough for me. I'll just end up getting a short ram intake instead and getting the SLP Ram Air hood.

you dont need a short ram with the ram air hood if you buy the kit to make it function its like 40 dollars or something it come with a conical filter and piping that goes in place of stock filter.if you get a shortram the filter will now be open to heat negating the ram air(plus cool outside air) effect

So wait a minute now...If you get this $40 kit you're talking about, isn't that kind of like haveing a CAI then? I mean if you have a high-flow air filter on the end of a smoothed out intake (I'm assuming the "piping" you refer to is an upgrade to the friggin' OEM accordion that currently passes for an intake) and it is sealed with baffles or whatever to the ram-air hood which is drawing cold air right from out side, you basically have a CAI. Right? Am I crazy? It sounds like you get the benefits of cold air AND Ram air all in one nifty package. Please verify or tell me if I am misunderstanding...

actually you keep the accordian piping. you get a new pipe from the hood to the modified stock box and cone filter, the accordian pipe is of decent diameter and not that long. its the inlet pipe into the airbox and the stock filter which are the biggest flow restrictors not saying it couldnt be improved however if i had the hood id get the kit so i wouldnt suck in hot underhood air .truly functional hood instead of hood with a hole in it.
