I found this on matrixowners.com today and thought it was pretty cool so I figured I would post it and see what everyone thinks. Maybe Pontiac should do something like this!

I don't like it at all. It's just because I've never liked the El Camino/SSR style back ends. If they gave it a proper convertible style trunk, then it could be a really nice looking vehicle.

That's better than what I can do in PS but the white truck gives it away...it doesn't have the space between the cab and the bed.

The designers have concepts like that. With the price of insurance these days you have to make it in the class of small pickup. No front wheel drive. When I first saw the picture of the photoshop I said (removed). Someone spent all of that money to have a 2 seater. The owner could have bought an SSR for that price and still had a warranty. Once you chop a poor car's frame the warranty should be thrown out the window. Wonderful idea to personalize your vehicle but not my taste. Buy a Vette if you want that look.

How about that 2-door Vibe. I'd love to see one. I really dislike 4-doors.

IMHO, the 4 doors balance out the look for me. Like the Saturn Ion...I think it looks vastly better in 4-door than the 3-door coupe. I heart my Vibe just the way it is. But the car I wanted to see come in a convertible...the Dodge Avenger.

It reminds me of that Gawd awful little convertible Metro chevy used to sell. Proportions all wrong. I'll keep my 4-door hatch, thank you.

The 2 door versions you did look sweet. I like that look. One big door on each side. It could easily be done. Look at the 2door blazer. It is unfortunate that 2door vehicles are starting to become the thing of the past. The only 4 door vehicle that has a good design is the original Aurora/Riveria(not original but new body). I guess we should hold on to out classics. Might be even more rare as 4doors evolve and take over our freeways.

Every time I drive a 4-door and I look over my left shoulder I'm looking at the B-pillar instead of out the window.quote:Like the Saturn Ion...I think it looks vastly better in 4-door than the 3-door coupe.Actually, the Ion coupe is a 4-door not a 3-door and I think the coupe is much better looking than the sedan.quote:But the car I wanted to see come in a convertible...the Dodge Avenger. There hasn't been an Avenger since it was killed off after the 2000 model year. It was redesigned and renamed in 2001 as the Stratus coupe/hatchback. It's twin, the Chrysler Sebring has been a convertible since 1996.

The Focus has the ZX3 (2-door hatch) and well as ZX5 (4-door hatch) and the 4-door sedan (trunk) models. Maybe a 2-door Vibe with rear-hinged half doors like the Ion and extended cap pickups.

It's twin, the Chrysler Sebring has been a convertible since 1996.I am well aware of that. I know when the Avenger was discontinued. I was doing nothing more than to express my wish that it HAD been made in a convertible...not saying that Dodge should do it or that it is feasible. I tried my darndest to get an Avenger before it died but since it's a sports car and I was a teenager at the time, I was SOL as far as insurance goes. They made the Stratus at that time too. I looked at them, and I still like the Avenger better. I know the Sebring is a convertible. I just like the look of the Avenger much better. I'm not big on the Chrysler look unless it's on a PT Cruiser.I do, however, still plan to purchase myself a used Avenger, someday...and make a drag car out of it.

The Dodge Stratus (and Chrysler Sirrus) of 2000 and earlier was a totally different car than the current Dodge Stratus (and Chrysler Sebring). The 2001-up Stratus/Sebring is the same car as the 2000 and earlier Avenger/Sebring. Chrysler kept the Avenger/Sebring platform but just changed the name from Dodge Avenger to Stratus. The car platform that was the Stratus/Cirrus was killed off.

My aunt has a new Stratus, though, and I don't think it looks like the two cars are kin at all. It's a lot bigger, more like a sedan than the low-sitting sportscar type of look that the Avenger had.

It's not the exact same car because the platform was revised for the 2001 model year but it is the same platform.

Thanks, but I was kind of kidding. There's a bunch of sources of used and replacement parts for those things, you can pretty much build one from scratch if you've got enough cash. I have to decide if I want to restore it to completely new show condition, or fix it up enought to drive it and have fun. time and money.

I think it looks kinda neat... not that I would drive it or anything. I could see a market for that, maybe the same market as the Beetle.
