a "grommet" thingy

so i got my oil changed at the dealership the other day because they had a promo. while there i order some touch up paint finally. today i picked up the paint. to my surprise they gave me 2 items, the paint and also a "grommet." (part # 88970750) so i was like "but i only ordered the paint." come to find out, when they changed my oil, they noticed this peice missing, so they ordered it. the "grommet" is the little black plastic, quarter size piece that keeps the retractable arm secure that holds the hood upright when open. the thing is i never knew they ordered it. so i asked how much it was. $10!!! for something that looks like it may have cost 4 cents. luckily for me and them, he said its cover under warranty. anyways...this peice fell out a while back, i remember. the new one doesnt stay in either. the hole in the metal is kinda stretched out. so i doubt ill keep it in, it will just fall out again. anyone else have this problem???

The prop rod is by no means scure in that hole, but it doesn't fall out. It could easily come loose though if I fidget too much.

Part #14 on this picture. How in the heck did that thing fall out. I will have to take a look at the wife's and see how that thing was installed and maybe a prevention from falling out. I wished that I would have made it to the rally. I have a feeling that I can learn from everyone. Get to know the car inside and out. I am unattached at work. I do not get much hands on these days.

I think it's because you have the pictures in a site that requires a logon and password. As long as you personally are logged in, you alone can see them. But for anyone else (or if you're logged out), the pictures don't display. You should just upload them to the forum and display them.BTW, thanks for understanding my previous post was humor and not "threatening". It seems most people here think all I do is insult people.

Maybe the Yahoo account has limited bandwidth per user and it has been exceeded? To alleviate that, try to attach the photos to posts here instead of linking them, that way they will always show up.

I can not see the pics either. I trust Nova and if he saw them and it was the grommet then I believe it. I did not get a chance to check out my wife's Vibe. Is the grommet rubber or plastic?

Create a new reply, under the Reply box there is an area called File Attachment. If you have the photos on your computer, click the Browse button and locate the file. When you post the reply it will attach itself to the thread. You can only post one file per post, so you will have to make 3 replies for the 3 photos.

Nice pictures. It looks like the bottom of the hole is bent. Use a washer about the same size of the hole and use something to tap it flush. The grommet should fit in very snugly. It looks like the hole was bent from not having the grommet. Please try it because we do not want bad things to happend to you while your hood is up. It could come crashing down. The hood for the vibe is quite heavy. Unless you do not mind carrying an old broom handle to hold up the hood. I guess you could also say screw it and buy a new hood the comes completely off.
