Hi! I am interested in finding a lower milage vibe gt that is somewhat clean (no rust holes, etc). As I need a replacement for my base vibe that has fallen to rust since i couldn't keep up with how fast it was progressing. And I figure might as well upgrade to a GT. It is tough trying to find one online with lower miles and in good shape and could really use some help. Thank you in advance.

I'm in central IL and have an automatic 2008 base Vibe with 76,000 miles. I know it is not a GT but it is rust free and I did alot of maintenance in the last year (belt, filters, all fluids (oil, trans, brake, coolant), etc)). Not sure what price range you are looking at but I can send you more details and pictures if you are interested to know more.

Good luck! Unless you are willing to search nationwide, it may take a while, and when I searched nationwide for a 2003 GT to replace my GT that was totaled it took me eight months to find one and it wasn't in great condition even though it had less than 100k miles.
Unfortunately, there were only about 20k GTs built over the four years they made the first generation Vibe GT, and now that they are 20+ years old they are getting hard to find. I still occasionally look for used GTs and most have 200k+ miles on them.
If you seriously want a first gen GT just keep searching and one will eventually turn up but you may have to travel to get it and it might take a year or more to find the right one.
Don't discount the 05 and 06 GTs with drive-by-wire because Monkeywrench Racing can sell you a reflashed ECU that extends the rev range of high lift and gets back the power the DBW cars lost. The GT was discontinued after the 2006 model year due to low sales so there are no 07 and 08 GTs.
The only GT I see for sale right now is an 03 GT w/236k miles for $4k in MN.

You may also want to keep an eye out for a Toyota Matrix XRS. Same as a Vibe GT, except
- I think the Vibe looks better than the matrix, but that's just me, others may disagree, which is fine
- the matrix has better visibility out the back
- different HVAC box, so no future issues with the fresh/recirc activator
- toyota parts people will be willing to talk to you about a Matrix
There's
one in Ohio -(153K miles, $5K) and others in NJ and FL
Why are you looking for a GT instead of another base?
