Loose wire under alternator connects to what

Pulled a wire loose while working on alternator on my 04 Vibe GT. It's a blue wire that was alone in its plastic conduit coming from in the harness that includes the alternator connectors. There looks to be a switch mounted in top of the A/C compressor with a hole that it might have come out of, but I might be looking at a vacuum switch air hole.

If the wire insulation is black with a white stripe (I think I can see the edge of a white stripe), it's power for the magnetic clutch for the A/C compressor. It's easy enough to check--does the A/C work?
