Cheap tires.

Are the Goodyear RS-A that they put on the Vibes cheap? They didnt even last 16K miles! My Kuhmo's on my GA lasted longer, and they are only 20K mile tires. Now I have some ugly tires on the front from Bridgestone.

Sounds like you didn't rotate, but that is still quick wear. Will you admit spinning the tires? As for cheap, the RS-A's aren't very cheap priced and there are better tires for less money. What are you looking for, grip, snow traction, long wear? Bridgestone and Kuhmo both make great tires and some bad ones.

I am also wondering how often you rotated the tires. 16,000 miles seems like a little soon.

Ok, I'm guilty! LoL Yes, I spin the tires sometimes, but it's not very hard with this GT car. Even while moving. And sadly, no. This is the first time I never had my tires rotated after 7K. I get my GA's tires done all the time, but I rarely put 1000 miles a year on that now since it's like 3" off the ground. LoL If I would have had them rotated, I'm sure they would have replaced them for free.On the plus side, these new tires get more traction in the rain. With the Goodyears, I would just tap the gas and the tires would spin. These actually get good traction. I'll probably leave these on till next spring, then I'm hoping to get 18" or 19" wheels/tires for the summer, then I'll get Kuhmo's.

Hi,I think the RS-A's are most generally good for about 40K if you take care of them. A family member has these tires on her Tracer, doesn't spin-out and really hasn't rotated them except for maybe once. She's now on her second set, the first set were replaced around 43K and the second set have the car up to 84K now. Tread looks fine but they are noisy. More noisy than my Dunlops... her RS-A's almost always sounds like driving on ground-up asphault.Dave

You need a softer compound tire. They are sticky when you get on it and in the rain they will not spin as much. If you get on them all the time the performance will be better but they will not last as long. The softer compound tires sometimes cost more but it will depend on your driving style. I rotate my tires at every oil change to make sure I do them. Every 3000 miles or if I do not have time at least they will get done next time at 6000 miles.

Some times you can't rotate them if you wait 10k miles because of odd wear. Not a big problem on Vibes but If you've got 16k, they should have moved at least twice already. 7.5k mi. or less is customary. You probably wont get much more than 32k on those so if you rotate now they'll all be done at same time.
