Vibe GT on the Dyno

On Saturday I took my Vibe to a local performance shop and put it up on the dyno to see what kinda power the Vibe is putting out. Run 1: 161.5 HP and 117.8 TorqueRun 2: 168.7 HP and 122.2 TorqueI think I let up too early on the first run, but I did much better the second time around. The graph really shows where the power is in the GT.See it here... http://www.mitro.net/images/030920dyno.jpgAll the GT owners will agree there is nothing like the sound of lift...well imagine that in the corner of a huge garage at 80 some miles per hour...I thought it was gonna explode! It was great...

Very cool Cathy! I was right there when mitro put you on speaker at the Michgan Rally yesterday. That was awesome to hear. I am trying to get a hold of a place here that does dyno testing so the we can do a comparison. You have pulley's and an exhaust over me. It will be interesting to compare the results.

Very nice numbers! The 2ZZ motor really puts up some healthy horsepower numbers, especially considering it's flywheel horsepower rating!!

was that at the wheels or flywheel...i was hoping to see more at the flywheel if it is there.

Correct, those numbers are at the wheel. I think there is a 15-20% estimated difference between the two. If there even a way to accurately figure out your HP at the flywheel??

wow! nice looking numbers, cathy! what does that equate to in hp, not whp?

theres no way to accurately figure it, short of yanking the motor and putting it on an engine dyno. But %15 loss should be about right... maybe even a hair high.Crank HP = Wheel HP/(1 - Loss percentage)Crank HP = 168.7 / (1 - 0.15)Crank HP = 168.7 / 0.85Crank HP = 198.47 HP

Do those UR pulleys make any noticable difference, and where did you get yours from and for about how much $?thanks

There's been quite the noise going on over at newcelica.org about the pulleys from unorthodox. several celi's have had the same oil pump problems/blown engines. i had considered them, but just don't trust them, now.

I haven't had any problems with my pullies, and they are from Unorthodox. Maybe it was human error on those ones that had problems... it's important to have them instaled by someone who knows that they're doing. The only thing I don't like about them is that now my car idles a little lower so it takes a little longer to heat up in the winter...and there is a noticible difference in the power from my vents when I'm ideling and then when I'm driving...but that's what the pullies do.

Yeah, I agree, I've put about 10,000 miles now on my pullies, and have had no problems yet. I even did the installation myself. Those aren't easy to change either. Oh yeah, I also have the UR pulley kit... Water pump, alternator, and crank.
