P0505

My ‘04 GT has been cutting out and dying when I cold start it. After a few times dying it will stay running. I pulled code P0505 for “Idle Control System Malfunction”. I don’t necessarily want to go replace the IAC because it’s $250 on rock auto. Should I go ahead and do it anyways or look into something else?

I don't know what to offer other than the attached PDF which is the troubleshooting steps for a P0505 from the 03 Matrix (XRS/2ZZ) book. Maybe you'll get lucky and it'll be because of step 2, PCV hose.
just because I had it, I also uploaded the steps for P0505 for a base (1ZZ). looks the same as the 2ZZ one, maybe there's a difference that would show up under a thorough review
