My 08 FWD with 5-speed manual is no longer safe to drive due to a rotted subframe.

The local yard will give me $600 for scrap but I don't want to see it get crushed.

The good:
AC condenser replaced last year 2023
Radiator replaced last year 2023
Tires new this July. Less than 1k on them.
New full exhaust this spring. Probably less than 3k on it.
Interior is in good condition.
Engine and manual trans have 200k and run great. Never had any issues.

The bad:
Some rust in the lower right corner of the hatch.
Some rock chips on the hood.

The really bad:
Subframe has rusted badly and today the passenger lower front control arm bushing broke free. No longer safe to drive

If someone will give me $600 and save it from the crusher that would be nice.

Sorry to hear about your Vibe! I wish I could help save it but all that I can offer is a suggestion. There is guy named Brett Hardy saves Vibes, pull parts, sells parts, etc and he is near Armada, MI. You could contact him at TheVibeNut@gmail.com and see if he would be interested.

Thanks. I've emailed him. I'll give this thread a few weeks and then take it to the local yard as a last resort.

Vibe is gone. Sad day for me but now I have a spot in the driveway for a new toy.

Sorry to hear. Just wondering if you found a home or if it went to the salvage yard in the sky?

I did remove my upgraded center console arm rest and put the original one back on. I'll try to sell the upgraded one on fleabay.
