05 (base) Vibe. had a new friendly shady tree guy do the front pads today. needed to replace passenger side rotor. noticed the pads are wear a lot on the inside pad. I forgot to give him the caliber lubricant. also he used no spray brake cleaner.
question = is it sometimes not necessary to use the lubricant and cleaner?

Yes on the lubricant. And you should probably just replace the slide pins. They're cheap and easy to find for these cars, off-the-shelf at the auto parts store. And pay more for good pads if you didn't. The $20 pads I put in last year never worked right. The $30 pads are fine.

Cleaner's a good idea, though I seldom use it when I just replace pads, or get a new rotor from the factory. One can has lasted me over ten years.
