Replaced ABS Sensor on both front wheels but..

Post by SeANMcBAY »

I replaced the abs sensors on both my front wheels to fix an issue I’ve had since putting snow chains on improperly which damaged them. Today I replaced the one the passenger side and everything seemed good after, no dashboard lights but then suddenly they all returned (abs vsc, traction)

What should I do next and is there anything else I should check? I really want to fix this issue. I did overtighten the bottom screw when installing the bottom sensor which made it crack a little but still was on securely, could that have damaged it causing the lights?

Did you replace with OEM or aftermarket sensors? While the sensors were out, did you inspect the hole for rust? I had a similar issue, when I changed the senor rust off the inside of the housing stuck to the end of the new sensor causing issues until removed and cleaned. Also if you had issues with the connectors, tucked up in the fenderwall, you might want to make sure they connectors are seated. When I changed mine one of the plastic tabs was brittle and snapped I had to use a cable tie to hold the connector together.
