03 AWD ABS Module Compatibility

Hello! I just bought a new to me 03 AWD Vibe as a winter car for these brutal upstate New York cold months but it needs some work. I’ve gotten everything taken care of to get codes clear except this P0500 is turning into a real pain.

The car has AWD and ABS. The speedometer works after a while of driving and the ABS light is constantly lit. The transmission mounted speed sensor and all wheel speed sensors check out OK so I’m thinking it has to be the ABS module itself. Abs likes to kick on coming to a real slow stop on dry pavement for no reason.

I picked this guy up off eBay for $50.00 hoping it might be an easy enough fix but some of these part numbers aren’t the same. Should this fit or am I wasting my time?

New part:

This is still currently installed. You can see the part numbers aren’t exactly the same but it came off an “03 Vibe 1.8L AWD” so who knows.

Thanks for the help!

Welcome to genvibe!

I think it likely that 89541-01032 is the sumitomo part number. I see several on ebay that reference 89541-01032 and say they are for 03-04 vibe/matrix with abs and awd.

The numbers that don''t match don't seem to match any of the numbers on the ones I see on ebay

I'd say give it a try. It will be a pain, all the brake bleeding, hope you've got a cooperative helper.

I attached a couple of sections from the 03 Matrix manual, one on how to replace the part you are asking about, the other on brake bleeding procedure (the 32-6 referenced at the end of the replacement procedure)

I didn't even bother replacing the pump - just the computer module. Solved my P0500 problem and got the car inspected!
