Should the flexplate be exposed? Normal? Not that important?

So apparently I have had the flexplate of my 2005 automatic vibe exposed since 2020. Is this normal? I don't see a part for it on rockauto, maybe GM direct only?
Attached best picture I could take at time.
EDIT: Looks like I am missing some plastic cover. Assume this is the same transmission.

Wow...now I want to check both of my Vibes!
It looks like the part is avaiable on ebay:

When I bought a 2004 Matrix with manual transmission years ago the flywheel was exposed in the same fashion as in your picture. Toyota makes a small plastic plate the will cover up the flywheel on the manual transmission. I purchased it from the Toyota dealer and installed it. Not sure what is available for the automatic transmissions but I would have a look at the dealers parts diagram.

FYI this is for the MANUAL transmission vibe. I haven't bought the cover yet for mine. Maybe I'll have to go to a GM/toyota dealer for once.
