finding replacent Right Front CV axle

I've bought two axles from two different places and neither fit. I have a 2003, base, automatic without ABS. Here is the old one that was in the car Image. There are some stickers on it that have the number TF2172A0237 printed on it, here is a picture of that: Image

Just using a tape measure the original axle was ~36" long. The two ones I bought were shorter.

The one I removed had the sort of bulge between the CV joint's. Don't know if it is necessary or what it is for. Looks like a damper.

I've read the early 2003s had some different sized shafts and transmissions as well.

Anyone know about this and the situation today getting replacement parts?

All I see is it is an obsolete number and I don't see any replacement numbers given or cross references, etc.

Same with the GM PN

I use this Toyota parts site: http://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota/us/200 ... ft/1#43410 and it agrees with the above.

Note: Cars without ABS can use the ABS shafts.

The ABS shafts have a toothed ring, non-ABS shafts have a smooth metal ring in that spot.

if you can't find a new one maybe look for one in a junkyard

car-part.com is a good junkyard search tool, looks like a lot of them listed, maybe you can find a yard with one near wherever you are
