Shouldn't this recall affect the 2003-04 Vibe as well?

On January 30, 2024, Toyota issued a "do not drive" advisory for certain 2003–2005 car models due to concerns about their Takata airbags:

2003–2004 Corolla
2003–2004 Corolla Matrix
2004–2005 RAV4
The company says the Corolla and Matrix models are under a separate recall because their airbags can be deployed without a crash. The Takata air bag inflators are at risk of exploding and hurling shrapnel.
Customers can check if their Toyota has a recall at www.toyota.com/recall or by contacting the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-800-331-4331.

This is likely a new recall.
The explodie materials inside the Takata airbags break down over time, and become volatile after about 10 years. We are at the 20 year mark now.

If GM follows their normal pattern we will see recalls from them in 1-6 months.

I looked up my 03 Matrix and it said there are no open recalls.

It is possible that this "do not drive" advisory is out to just the people who haven't done the previous recall.

Or it could be the start of another round, but if so, it seems like it would involve more that the 50K vehicles mentioned in the Reuters article cited in ZZvroom's parallel thread

This is NOT A RECALL. General Motors reported that the 2003 and 2004 Pontiac Vibes should NOT BE DRIVEN AT ALL. This is because the airbag units might explode for no reason and send metal pieces around thereby injuring or killing occupants. The source is the GM Authority website.
