2009 Vibe 1.8 auto- Struts

Post by jack101 »

Just bought a 2009 1.8 Vibe with 60K according to CarFax. There is a clunk noise in the rear when going over bumps, even small ones. Don't notice any bad handling characteristics. I had this problem with a Mercury Sable and it turned out to be struts. Nothing is loose around the jack or spare that would be the source. Any suggestions. What is a good strut for replacement?
Thanks

Edit: Mine was advertised as a 1.8. Later found it was 2.4. I was suspicious on the test drive, but did not know enough about the Vibe to be sure. Love the car.

I would recommend KYB as they are the OEM strut provider.
I have used them successfully on 2 first gen Vibes.
Monroe quick struts used to be OK, but they changed their manufacturing process recently and the new units are sub-standard IMO.
