Gen 1 front wheel bearing replacement

Post by bratboy »

Hey there everyone, I need to replace my front wheel bearing but I don't have a hydraulic press. Can anyone share the easiest way to swap them out? Thank you.

Remove the steering knuckle and carry it to a nearby machine shop. Call around for a place that has a large enough press. The auto parts stores in my area no longer have the press--I had to take it to a transmission shop. They charged me $20.

I have the same issue on Frosty, and am looking at buying a Moog complete assembly from Rock Auto. It's more expensive but will save a ton of labor.
