A failing engine pump isn't something you want to ignore. It could very well end up taking out the turbo encabulator, then you'll really be screwed.

And oil burning "rarely fatal for the engine?" Maybe so, but the catalytic converter might not be so lucky.

Good article, although it doesn't apply to any of my Vibes. Still it was "optimistically" presented which should set anyone at ease who owns one.
