Is a 2005 automatic Vibe with 180k miles too old?

Post by xpro »

I'm considering buying a used 2005 Pontiac Vibe with 180K miles on it. Considering if the test drive goes well and I don't notice any major issues. Can these cars do 300k miles if well maintained?

How long do the automatic transmissions last on these models?

In my opinion, no, it is not too old.
Yes, it will last to 300k plus if was / is going to be properly maintained.
Automatics work well, should last the life of the car if not abused and fluid is changed regularly.
Check thoroughly for rust. It does not show up much on the exterior panels , usually hidden under cladding.
Rust on the roof around the windows is not good, pass on those.
