uh better get...

has anyone ever seen those macco commercials where you get a paintjob for like 200 or so $'s?is it me, or is it impossible, for that price, that that paintjob could be any better than the same quality it would be if i let a 4 yr old fingerpaint my car for me?

they get better prices from the paint manufactures because of their quantity of product used. another reason is that they skip a whole alot of steps in repainting the car for $400-$500, like sanding and multi-coat priming your car, removing factory defects in the surface and the quality of paint and the # of coats used are suspect, plus i bet they dont ultra fine the surface on the new paint job to get out any floaties or dirt in the paint. its just to get you in the door then maybe they can convince you to get the more expensive paint jobs by pointing out the defects they dont cover or remove. its a lowball ad to get ya in! also their technicans maybe be painters in name only, not certified/factory or program trained specialists!

i don't think they do a clear coat either, you can get a "clear" mix in the paint. for small jobs or repairs, it's a decent job, but i wouldn't have them paint my whole car.

Red is right. There is no such thing as a good paint job for $200. Unless you do it yourself. You need to sand the oldstuff off down to bare meta/prime it/paint it/clear if you want or put on another coat or two. Body work is or can be more expensive than paint. Plan on spending plenty if you want to repaint an entire vehicle. You will get what you pay for.
