Saturday my AC started blowing hot air. I put my gauges on it and found it my pressure was low. 15 psi low side, 70 high side at 101° ambient temp. I gave it several hours to sit in case the evaporator coil was iced over, then I started charging it up and got the low side to 40 psi and high side....well, my gauge hose blew out at 150psi. Just great. It took about 6 oz and the system started cooling again. Next day it started blowing hot again and I didn't have time to get new gauges before I had to leave town. But it should have enough pressure to keep the pressure switches happy.
I've considered the obvious stuff like bad pressure switches, but I'm accustomed to the old school compressors with magnetic clutches so having this style that turns all the time even with the ac off is new to me. Open to suggestions.
Thanks.
