I apologize for the length.Just got back from my sister's in Omaha and we went to a drive through nature park while I was there. We were just entering the prong-horned deer area and we noticed that one was sitting there right by the enterance so we stopped so we could look and it just bolted out in front of my brother in law's jeep cherokee. It started ramming the front end and then came around to the side and ramming the tire and quarter panel. This went on for about five minutes, we couldn't move because it would just run along side and dart out infront of us and continue on hitting us. There were a few cars behind us stopped because they couldn't get around us so they started taking pictures. The deer got bored and went to the car behind us and started messing with them so we took off. The deer chased us for about 100 feet and caught up to us on a curve and continued to ram our car. My sister was looking in the brochure to see what to do in this situation, and it just said that the animals have the right of way. After a few minutes it wandered back to the car behind us a we took off again. It started chasing us again. You know that scene in Jurassic Park where the T-Rex is chasing the Jeep through the woods, it was just like that. I am yelling in the backseat to keep going cause it was catching us and the brother-in-law is doing like 35 on this narrow, curvy, gravel road with this 3 foot tall deer chasing us. After about 200 yards it got tired and it gave up. We got up to the ranger station to check out the damage and report the situation. It had made a few small dents and scratched the side up a little. They took our info and said their insurance company would be in touch.While we were waiting one of the rangers told us this is the first time this has happened in like 5 years. The last time was when a couple of guys thought it would be funny to take there elk caller and blow it in the park. This enraged one of the bulls, who was in heat at the time, and it rammed a van full of kids and their parents behind them. It punctured several holes in the van and scared the shi* out of the family. So just a lesson, don't bring elk callers to a wildlife safari when the animals are in heat. Well that was my weekend. I almost suggested that we take my vibe, but I held my tongue because my bro-in-law is like 6-4. Good thing I didn't. lol

Wild story. Almost sounds like the bizarre behaviour of a rabid animal.(if a bull was in heat, it wouldn't take much to enrage him)

I think is was in heat, it is about that time. It was crazy. Me and my sister were laughing really hard. It's horns were about as high as the jeep windows. Could have been bad if it broke one of the windows out.It wasn't rabid just very territorial i guess. Must have saw us as a threat to his mating.

Crazy! Where I live right now, we have antelope and deer in our yards, city parks, all over. I've never seen anything like that happen before.

only time i've seen that happen (or similar) was when someone walked between a moose cow and her calf. stomped the poor old man to death. someone caught it on video tape and i see it every so often on one of those, animals gone wild shows. was on our university campus in front of the library....

I was just having fun with the words. I always thought heat referred to a stage in the female reproductive cycle, so if a bull was in heat as the ranger said, the poor bull would probably be having a hard time coping with anything. Too bad you didn't get the attack on video It's good that you didn't take the Vibe.

People behind us took a few pictures. But as far as the animal being in heat, you are right only females are in heat. The males rut, that was the word I was looking for just couldn't think of it.
