Inverter question

Post by Bookworm »

I haven't pulled seats loose to check - does anyone have any experience with installing the OEM inverter assembly (switch, inverter, etc) into a Vibe/Matrix that didn't come with one?

Mostly, I'm trying to figure out if the relay for the 110 is already inside the 'new' car, or if I'll be robbing that from the old vehicle as well.

I haven't used the 110 in a couple of years, but I like having the option.

in 03-08's, the inverter relay is in the small relay block above the glove compartment

you should be able to reach up on top of that relay block without taking it loose and feeling for the relay to see if its there.

I'll try to do that tomorrow. (car's 15 miles away, roughly, at my folks).

So all the wiring should be in place for the inverter under the seat? That'll be nice :)

I haven't pulled the seat out to check the plugs, but I did dig around under the dash. The relay is definitely _not_ included in the base model. So I'll have to rob that along with the inverter and dash assembly.

I was MIA for a while after switching jobs and forgetting my password to here lol...Finally had Mike manually reset me.

Anyways, I don't think the wiring is there for the 110 stuff. I only say this as Vibes that did not come with power windows/locks do not have the wiring present. I also know that my 2004 GT did not come with the sub in the back for the moons and tunes...Sadly, if it didn't come with that sub, the wiring doesn't exist to add the OEM one.

Interesting thing.

This is a 'Base' Matrix. Apparently in 07, Base meant

Power locks
power windows
cruise control
12 volt in the console box

I've already put in power mirrors - the wiring was in place.

it doesn't have fog lights, and it also, oddly enough, doesn't have the intermittent wiper control ring. it' has OFF, INT, I, and II.

I didn't get to pulling the lower dash open to check for wiring, nor have I dug under the seats, I've been focused on that P0171 problem. After reading through ToyotaNation, I'm starting to think maybe it is the injectors.

Fogs are probably plug-n-play with the addition of the relay and the turn signal switch...Same with intermittent wipers.

Good luck on your mysterious P0171.

Okay - I crawled under the driver's seat on both the fully loaded M&T 07 Vibe and the base 07 Matrix.

The wiring harness specific to the inverter is -not- present on the Matrix. So, for me, it means it'll be simpler to just carry a small 100 watt inverter around.
