How do I contact moderators for a request? Tried the "Contact us" below

Post by lexicon »

I am trying to reach a member who posted a few years ago, but has not visited for a few years. He had the exact same problem I have and am requesting his email, Or, if our moderators can send him my email to see if he had a solution to the problem he encountered.
My problem is a cooling fan that runs at high speed when the engine is cold and runs at that speed at all times when the A/C is on .

I posted in the Problems and Warranty section.

How can I contact them for a response.
Thanks

admins likely will not release another users contact info for obvious security reasons.

It sounds like your cooling fan could be on the fritz. Alternatively, it could have been replaced with one that just runs louder. I replaced my cooling fan and the replacement from a local parts store is...LOUD.

Could moderators send him my contact info?

Post by lexicon »

That is a possibility also, hoping they do.

My fan is original, and works, its just that it should not be on when engine is cold and a/c is turned on. This is abnormal for my car.
Does anyone else's fan have the same issue?

Generally speaking, the radiator fan will be on when the AC is on. Something something science. Here's is a random post with some info on it.

I would be surprised if:
1. The mods or admins would release another user's private contact info
2. The mods or admins would never get back to you to tell you they won't.
3. Even if they did give you the email, that you'd ever hear anything out of Loftja who only posted about the one thing, three years ago, and nothing since.

Did you try sending Loftja a private message? I think that might send an email to whatever address they have on file here. (which doesn't usually work for me as I never check that particular email account, for me PMs wait until I log in)

In your thread at https://forums.genvibe.com/phpBB3/viewt ... 17&t=47871 you posted a link to Loftja's thread about the same issue. In Loftja's thread I posted some info from the 03 Vibe service manual, which I completely don't remember doing. Can't really offer anything else on the fan speed issue

I am not asking for his email, I am asking that the mods send him mine

Post by lexicon »

also, the issue is that the fan comes on immediately at High Speed , this is a change for my car .
Can someone please start their car and check the A/C when cold and see if the radiator fan comes on at high speed.
There have been many views so, no one has said theirs starts up at high speed.
Just hoping the original post person can help me if the mods can contact him.

Thanks all

The mods won't contact said person nor release their info. It's that simple. Loftja hasn't been on for years. It's useless to keep trying to pursue that option. You won't get an answer.

Yes, your radiator fan should come on when the AC is on. If the fan is functioning, you're fine. Once it stops functioning, then you have a problem.

In addition to this andrewclaus did confirm function is happening correctly.
andrewclaus wrote: Thu Jul 22, 2021 4:28 am My '07 base Vibe does the same thing, and has since I bought it four years ago. My old Subaru does the same thing too. I live in a dry, fairly temperate climate and seldom use the A/C so it's never bothered me. It also happens on defrost and that's normal.

I don't have the exact wiring diagram for the VIbe, but a similar system for the same year Corolla shows the pressure switch is in the fan control system, as well as the ECU. I don't know the exact pressure switch function, but it sure looks like when there's pressure in the coolant system the radiator fan switches to high speed, by design. Perhaps your car had a coolant pressure problem earlier, now resolved. Or perhaps my car has a problem and I don't know it.

I wouldn't worry about the fan motor at high speed vs low. At high speed, a resistor is switched out of the circuit, so in a way high fan speed is prolonging the life of the resistor.

are you a moderator? and a request

Post by lexicon »

zbyers,
thanks for your responses.
Would be great to have a Moderator respond, even on this thread would be great.
I assume you have a Vibe.....would you mind, next time you start your car in the morning, turn on the A/C, does the fan come on ?
Does it come on at HIGH speed.....That is my concern.
I know that this is a change in my Vibe. You can definitely hear the fan at high speed , its pretty loud at idling in the morning,
would you mind checking that, or anyone else who owns a Vibe....

Yes, its too bad the person that observed this change in one of his two VIbes did not post a resolution ...

Thanks for your help ....just check if that is normal for your car....High speed fan always coming when the engine is cold in the morning...

Appreciated

My suggestion was gonna be that if it's an original username then google it and see it it pops up on a different forum. I know if you do a google search of my username, a name I've been using for well over 20 years now, google will list numerous other sites I've been registered on. Some I never visit anymore, and some I still use to this day. Might be his only hope at this point.

Also, just to be clear, I also wouldn't expected the mods to release another person's personal info. Although I would have at least expected a mod/admin to come on and say that themselves.

If someone contacted me out of the blue because a mod on this or any other forum had provided my email or other contact info, I would be very highly PO'd, to say the very least.

As mentioned previously.... can the Mods send him my info for contact

Post by lexicon »

I have asked that the Mods Please send him my info since they have his personal email and see if he responds to me when given my email.

Thats all I am asking for.....

And, zybers..... the Answer to my question regarding the A/C symptom and solution has NOT been answered....

Good deal. I wasn't sure if that was exactly what was going on with yours, but I thought there were a lot of good tests in that thread.
