KYB strut assemblies for a 2010 2.4L Front wheel drive

Post by Transylvania »

Hello all - I am thinking of upgrading the front struts assembly on my 2010 Vibe with KYBs and can't seem to find the part number that would fit. I read the postings for 2005-08, but nothing for 09-10.

Has any of you used KYB strut assemblies on 09-10 Vibes? If so, what part numbers did you use?

Thanks,

Tibor

A couple of years ago, I replaced the struts on my 2009 Vibe. At that time KYB did not make strut assemblies for the '09-'10 Vibe. I wanted a softer ride because I have the 17" rims so I went with the Monroe Quick struts instead.

If I were to do it again, I would source all the parts and assemble the struts myself using the KYB struts. There were some issues with the Monroe Quick strut assemblies that I had to take them apart and correct so they did not save me any time and cost me more because the OEM caps on top of the struts would not fit on the Monroe struts. I had to buy new caps for a KIA that fit and worked with the Monroe Quick strut.

Vibalistic, the SR4408 and SR4409 are for a 1.8L Vibe and not for the 2.4L. These will not work for the OP as he asked for a 2010 with a 2.4L engine. KYB still does not have a listing for the 2.4L.

Is it a 2.4L base? Or is it a GT? I believe there is a difference in the rear suspension. The GT should have independent rear suspension. The base with the 2.4L I believe has a solid axle beam.

If you can't find any for the front of the 2.4L, you could use the GT/AWD and they should be the same. If you have a GT, the AWD rears would be the same.

zbyers, the OP asked about front struts for a 2010 Vibe with a 2.4L. For the front with a 2.4L, it does not matter if it is base model or a GT, they are the same part. The springs are different on the front strut assemblies if you have a 1.8L or a 2.4L. The bare strut itself are the same, which is way I said in my first post to assemble the units yourself as you can buy all the stuff you need to put together the assemblies. It is just that KYB does not make full assemblies for 2.4L fronts. On the rears, you are correct but the OP was not asking about the rears.
