For any of you who are intrested and or didn't get into the football league, I have started a hockey league. The league ID is 32478 and the password is Pontiac. Hope we can fill it up and have some more fantasy fun. When you sign up if you could post in here to keep the thread fresh that would be good.

I signed up. Had a little trouble with the league password. I copied and pasted, and it did not work. But, tried all lower case and it was just fine.I also plan to post more. I'm a bit surprised anyone noticed I was gone, since I don't contribute any car knowledge...

I can't imagine a Detroit guy picking up Roy anyways...I'm a big Vikings fan, and I'd rather start my hair on fire than take Favre on my Fantasy Football team. It's gotta be that way with Colorado-Detroit in hockey, no?

Re: odd number of teams. I've played yahoo fantasy before, and if you have odd numbers you can still play. There is just a floating BYE in the schedule each week.

Change of plans, if we can get two more people in the league that would be great. After a discussion with silverawd26 i have decided that two more people have a chance to sign up by Saturday. I will lock out the league on Sunday morning. And then I will set our league to ready on Tuesday night. So have your preranks done by Tuesday 7pm Central.

But, we do know it can't be killed."Classic line. It turns out that the Michelin man disquised as a Ducks goalie killed it.

I have made the requested changes in the league, but I have compromised a little. I have made 2 util. W spots and I left one of each of the R and L Wings. I want to leave a little bit of managing and strategizing on your team. I have also increased the roster size from 18 to 20. Better to have too many people than not enough.

Fine with me I will change it back
Re: Hockey League (redlava)
Posted: Fri Sep 19, 2003 9:20 am
by redlava
The only reason I changed it to 20 players is because I only had one IR spot. And since Hockey is full of injuries I thought having a few more players on the bench would help incase somebody got short handed.I can also change the IR quantity to two if everybody would like.
Re: Hockey League (silverawd26)

by redlava
Oh yeah. But if one of your best players is injured and you need a replacement you are not going to drop him for a WW guy because people would be all over him. Most leagues have 5 bench positions, one for every position on your starting roster. So we will do it that way as well plus a backup for the Util. player.

I moved it back to 18 where I had it originally. You are correct though putting it at 20 would have depleated the waiver wire. But you shouldn't have to go to the WW very often unless somebody is put on IR or you are unhappy with a players performance. Your bench is for subing in players for off days.

I am not a hockey guru. This is my third year of fantasy hockey. Before that the only hockey I watched was the Stanley Cup finals. My first hockey league I picked the people that sounded familiar to me as well because I didn't know anybody. I ended up finishing 4th in the league against some pretty stiff competition. A piece of advice: buy a fantasy hockey magazine, best 4 bucks you can spend.

i was talking about silver. he helped me get set up on my team.and they have a fantasy hockey magazine?

It is a seasonal thing with the magazine. They make one for baseball and football so they must make one for hockey. It just basically lists the top players and their fantasy value and what to expect from them. It will definately help out if you don't know who a lot of the players are. Make sure you prerank your players yourself, Yahoo does an ok job but sometimes their rankings are way off, even-more-so if they have been injured.

Everyone happy with their club? I'm a bit heavy on Avs (Forsberg, Sakic, Selanne, Kariya, and Blake), but there could be worse things. Real happy that Turco signed.

Didn't you guys edit your pre-rankings? You can go in and change the order of the rankings for each team. I thought that was communicated. Also, you can go to Draft Results to see who was taken in each round for all the teams.
