I have a 2004 all-wheel-drive vibe. I get 12 volts to the air conditioning compressor clutch when the switch is turned on. The clutch makes no effort to engage. I'm looking to order the clutch assembly. I searched and found a clutch assembly for around $130 on eBay. But when I put in the information about my vehicle and select all wheel drive then it says this clutch assembly will not work for my car. I wouldn't have thought things on the front of the engine would have been different but does the all-wheel drive used a different engine than the front wheel drive? If so can anybody point me to a part number for the all-wheel drive compressor clutch?

When i looked at GM parts sources, they only give me options for base and GT. Did the listing you saw specifically say it would not fit the AWD, or was the AWD just not separately listed?

it lists all the variants in the leftmost column, FWD, AWD and in the rightmost column, 1794CC (Base, AWD 1ZZ) or 1795CC (GT 2ZZ)

so this listing is saying that all of the 03=-08 variants use the same part, which is what I would expect.


If you think that its just the coil, then there a listing on ebay for just the coil, https://www.ebay.com/itm/124279446943 that's a lot cheaper than the whole clutch kit.

As far as I know, the AC compressor clutch should be the same for all 03-08 Vibes, regardless of trim level. I am pretty sure it is all the same compressor.

The clutch for a Vibe is NOT the same as the clutch for a Matrix. The Vibe (GM) and the Matrix (Toyota) share a lot of the same parts with the exception being the AC and the radio. Toyota will be of no help so do not go there when looking for AC parts.

thanks for the info, I ordered that coil and installed it yesterday. The AC works great now!
