Just curious. Does anyone know if lift will kick in when in reverse. I don't have the b***s to try it going that fast. Any one more daring than me let me know......

Probably. The engine doesn't know the difference between the gears. I wouldn't try it however.

I think the same as Nova. The tranny made the difference between going foward or backward. Lift is linked with the rpm. So, we should be able to hit lift in reverse. To try it, jack up the front and go ahead!

Some goofy guy playing with lift on a street, stops, makes the quizzical look, throws it in revers and he goes off screen then you hear the lift kick in and a Yahoo from him. By the way, what made you think of this?

really!! i rev my engine all the way up in neutral constantly. in fact i was told that was the only way to measure max tps voltage. mabey that why my car isnt faster than 17.3 stock. mabey i should stop. or is this only pertains to gt's.

yes...to answer the question...i got pissed because i was lost one day and canned it in reverse to get back to a street i passed. lift hit at the usual spot. scared the f**k out of me. i then knew what it felt like to be thrown forward from accelerating. kinda felt like i slammed on the brakes. so hope that answers your question, im the dumbass who did it

From
http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id ... 2quote:The actual beeper is inside the instrument panel. If you want to silence the reverse beeper (but keep all other beeping), cut the wire in pin 5 of the instrument panel wiring harness. It is a red wire with a thin black line. To do this you need to remove the instrument panel. First simply pull out the chrome trim ring panel. Next remove the single (!) screw right above the speedo. Then use a screwdriver to push down the 2 tabs that hold the panel in below the tach and below the temp guage. Then carefully pull the panel out. Disconnect the wiring harness. You can look on the back of the panel where the harness plugs in to see where pin 1 is labeled. From there find pin 5 and pull it out or cut it (be sure to leave enough to reconnect it if you need to). If you just want to make all your Matrix beeps quieter, don't cut any wires. Instead remove the back cover of the instrument panel. The beeper is round, black, and about 5/8 inch in diameter, located at the bottom center. I imagine you could just cover it with some foam tape or something. It is definitely nice to be rid of that annoying beeping!

i have a five speed nova. the guy told me the voltage is slightly higher with the engine off than on and to get the RIGHT voltage do it while the car is running. he may be full of s*** but it doesnt matter now. i wanted to correct for my big fat aftermaket pedal covers not letting my pedals go all the way down. but instead i just tossed them , i got celica gts pedals(including dead pedal) on the way. perfect size and they look better.

No engine should have the (removed) reved out of it.... especially in neutral... Must be too much Fast and F&*&& up Watching.....

This is a good forum - I can already hear the eyewitness after the bank robbery and the botched getaway - "I don't know what it was officer - it looked like a pea-green station wagon, made noises like a garbage truck, sounded like a pissed off go-kart, and was moving pretty fast when it hit the tree. He did have time to turn on his headlights though..."

Not for nothing, I actually like that sound. When it was summer around here and I was using lift to merge / pass people, you should've seen the looks on their faces at that moment : Smug look, instantly replaced by "What the ...". The one time that didn't work was with a WRX driver that had the sense to shift down into second well before I got to 6G. Ah well there's always a angrier go-kart, I guess. How'd you lose your e-access?If it makes you feel any better, I've placed your royalty check in the mail. Now if only I could get that Lucas guy to send mine...

Engine might not have been warm enough. The engine coolant temperature must be warm enough or the ECU won't send the signal to engage lift.

I have a GT and floored it in reverse and the car automatically kicked it into neutral at around 30...it didnt lift or anything. It did surprise the crap outta me though.

I'm gonna have to try this late at night after work sometime. We have a big, long parking lot where I can safely test this for myself. I can't see mechanically how the car could shift itself into neutral at 30 MPH going in reverse. I would think that if the engine was warm enough to engage lift in forward gears, it should work in reverse as well.
