Peeling “alloy” rims

New to the forum. Love the info and the vibe here.
I have two Vibes. 05 with 350k miles
07 with 164k miles

The rims on 05 are in better shape than the 07!

Wicked peeling of the sport “alloy” wheels. Anyone have a solution? I got a price for sandblasting and new powder coat paint. $150 per wheel. Can buy new ones for that price.

And they are steel wheels with paint.

Help!

Outside of of sanding/rattle can at home or sandblast/powder coat, really no other solutions. could sand it down and plasti-dip it and then have different color wheels everytime the dip decides to come off.

or aftermarket wheelz.

Yeah the alloy (I think aluminum?) wheels on the 2006 I got last week look like onions.

I don't have a $600 budget for the wheels, so it'll be scraping, sanding, re-painting for me.

That's a project that will have to wait until I'm done flushing the fluids, cleaning the engine and suspension areas, and fixing an exhaust leak.

But since the car's body paint is so trashed as well, it's got me thinking about painting the car...

Also, 350k! now that's amazing.

That's why the 189k on mine didn't scare me, because the engine started with no rattles and purrs along like any old Toyota.
Even if I just got two years out of this Vibe, I'd be doing well (for what I paid).
