My 2006 Vibe does 21 MPG in the city and about 27.5 in the highway. I've read somewhere else some owners report around 27 in the city. What is yours and is mine getting poor mileage.

Transmission .... Manual or automatic?? They make a difference on mileage.

My 2004 Vibe Gt 1.8L, premium fuel only, and six speed manual is getting me around 32 mpg combined city/highway.

My 2009 Vibe Gt 2.4L, regular fuel, and five speed manual, gets 29 mpg combined city/highway.

Keep in mind, location, and most important .... driving behavior & habits, help me achieve those outstanding numbers ;)

2009 Base model with the 2.4l, 5 speed automatic, regular gas. I average 28 mpg combined. Texas roads and weather, no crazy driving, regular maintenance.

My 2007 Base automatic gets over 40 on the highway, mid 30s combined (or when my wife drives). Most of my trips are on the open road.

I'm a bit of a "hypermiler." Look that up for tips on increasing gas mileage. I keep the car well tuned and check tires often.

YMMV, literally.

first gen bases, whether auto or manual, usually get about 30-32. You can increase it with some hypemiling, like others mentioned.

The first gen AWD and GT get around 27-30mpg, max. I have gotten 30+ on many occasions, but if we are talking normal, that's it.

Not sure on the 2nd gens, but the 2.4L should be close to the same mileage as the first gen GT/AWD; and the 1.8L simliar to that of base first gen.

Many things attribute to fuel mileage, the biggest being the nut behind the wheel. Tires, suspension where, tire inflation, weight in the vehicle, road surface, engine condition, brakes, accel/deceleration, etc. etc. etc.

I forgot to mention the details on my '06 Vibe. It's an AWD with automatic transmission. Right now it has the check engine on for a cylinder misfire. Sparks plugs have been replaced so I suspect it's a coil pack. Wondering if the MPG will increase much after it is fixed.

If the code is on cyl3, switch the coil to cyl1. if the code follows, coil is the issue.

yes, MPG should increase when the vehicle is running right....

Using a plug-in, decent bluetooth obd2 live data scan tool, and calculating my mileage based on fillups and using the odometer, I have been making a round trip of 120 miles one way in my 2004 base model with the 4 speed auto, I have been getting about 40mpg on the highway doing 63-65mph on the highway. And that includes about 2 miles of in city driving each way as well. I didn't believe it until I made the trip twice and after confirming fuel consumption after fill up's as well.

I use cruise control the whole time, never really hit over 2500 rpm, and just take my time. I love this car.
