03 Vibe w/ 05 Matrix Engine - Hissing Sound below Intake Manifold ?

Got a 2003 Vibe. We replaced the engine with an 05 Matrix engine 2 weeks ago. Runs and sounds like the engine is strong but has a misfire on all cyl. Runs pretty good except idle is kinda rough and after a drive it idles at 2k. I hear a hissing sound when engine is running, not a real loud hiss but it sounds like its coming from under the intake manifold. We changed intake manifold gasket and throttle body gaskets.
What could i do to help figure out the leak? Is a smoke test safe and if so are there any cheap ways to do them?

this is also another issue ive experienced at start up when cold. Its like 2 click sounds after starting. Only happened when its become colder out.

Misfire on 1, 2, 3, 4 at work right now so i am not sure the exact codes. Pretty sure it said lean though
I know another one is the exhaust catalyst believe its P0420 (that the sensor for catalytic converter) don't think that one has to do with the mis though.

its either those or a P0171

First four codes are misfires. I'd check the plugs and coils.
Last code generally is an intake manifold leak/vacuum leak. I would double check the vacuum lines.

thanks! i will try to check hoses. My neighbor helped me do the engine replacement. I'm just wondering if one of the hoses is hooked up wrong. I know he found one that he put on wrong right after finishing the job with me. I noticed it leaking when first adding coolant. the one line behind the intake manifold wasnt hooked up right. everything looks right but i just got a feeling it could be something like that.
Wish i could find a easy to ready diagram of all the hoses placements.

I'm doing a similar swap right now, 06 vibe engine into an 04 vibe.

2005-2008 Corolla/Matrix/Pontiac Vibe engine in a 2003-2004 Corolla/Matrix/Pontiac Vibe:
Almost direct swap - If the engine has an intake manifold it will need to be swapped with the original manifold from the 2003-2004 engine. Also the sensor in the exhaust manifold is not the same and will need to be swapped from the 2003-2004 if it is used. The wiring harness is also different and the original will also need to be swapped if the engine came with one.
