I converted my 06 base Vibe to a 6 speed and used the 5 peed axles. I now have a seep on the rh axle at the trans. New 5 speed shaft and output seal. It turns out the 6 speed axle is @ 9/16" longer. The problem is that the 6 speed has a bearing and stub shaft while the 5 speed doesn't. Does anyone have a part number for a usable axle shaft that doesn't have a bearing? Here are the specs for a 6 speed shaft

Product Condition New
Spindle Nut Included Yes
Spindle Nut Hex Head Size 30mm
Spindle Nut Thread Size M22 x 1.5
Axle Nut Locking Type Stake
Compressed Length 36 5/8"
ABS Ring Included Yes
Input Shaft Connection Style Spline/Bolt-On
Input Shaft Spline Count 2
Output Shaft Connection Style Spline
Output Shaft Spline Count 26
ABS Ring Tooth Count 48

I sent this question off to Cardone and will share it they answer. The above post are their specs from rockauto.

Cardone has nothing for me. I'm going to take a bearing support bracket off a 2zz and see if it will bolt up to a 1zz. Then I'll use a 2zz shaft.

It's 9/16" short. That's what I think is causing my seep.

I know I’m reviving an old post but I wanted to share how I fixed my seep. I got onto rockauto and found that the axles listed speced out at different lengths. I ordered the longest one and it fixed the problem. There was a noticeable difference in length. I can’t remember which one it was, though. I just wanted to post this to close the circle. Both my 2003GT and 2006 basic have been sold. Not because they were bad cars, but I didn’t need them anymore. I hope this helps someone.
