P0453 reading

Hi! I have a 2006 Pontiac vibe base model with the 5-speed manual. The only problem with it at the time of purchasing was a persistent engine code. While this one is not major, seeing the light on the dash only serves as an annoyance.
This code means that there is too much pressure in the EVAP system, and fuel tank. I have replaced the fuel sending assembly, but unlike earlier models of this car, the pressure sensor doesn't seem to be a part of it. I'll attach a stock photo of what it looks like here.
https://goo.gl/RtgmM2. I have no idea where to go from here. where is the sensor? do you know how I could check that all the lines are clear and not obstructed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried unhooking the Evap box (and seeing if the code changes to not working, or inspected the inlet/outlets on it? Sometimes the outlet gets clogged with dirt or spiders (I've heard they sometimes make their homes in Subaru Evep boxes).
The Evap box itself is in the engine bay behind and to the left of the intake.

I thought the evap box was the charcoal canister under the car by the rear driver side wheel

OH! My bad. Joatman you are right, here's a video with a picture of what we're talking about. The video is for a 2008 Matrix, but it's the same on all Vibe/Matrix.

I think the AWD cars have the canister on the opposite side.

This link may give you some idea of what or where to look for the sensor:
https://www.engine-codes.com/p0453_2006 ... camry.html
The above link is for a 2006 Camry but towards the bottom of the page shows where the sensor is located, which is part of the canister pump module assembly.
Here is a TSB from Toyota about the troubleshooting the system on a 2004:
https://www.autocodes.com/uploads/toyota/EG048-04.pdf. As you can see this is not an easy thing to troubleshoot. I would start by checking and/or replacing all related rubber hoses on the EVAP system just to rule out any bad hoses that may be collapsed or plugged. Then remove and check all electrical wiring and connections to the unit making sure all wiring is good with no corrosion. That would cover all the cheap things you can do and then it gets expensive after that. Check the TSB link to see if that can help you.

I don't remember what code , but I kept getting a persistent code about the EVAP purge valve (I think code was P0440). But I replaced that purge valve with one from AZ nearly two years ago and it has never come back.

thank you all for your help. I will be sure to try all these until that light gives up the ghost. Unfortunately, I can't work on my car at the moment as in western Canada, the temperature is staying solid at -20 to -25c which is around -11 degrees Fahrenheit. It doesn't seem to have any problems with the cold though, so that's nice!

It has been resolved! Thank you all so much for your help. When inspecting the charcoal canister, there was a small box beside it with a huge hole. It looks like it may have been a filter. when pulling out the box, dirt rained from the hose it was connected to. I decided to vacuum it out. with a new(er) canister I picked up from pick and pull, the fault finally cleared. I will attach photos below of the damage and the part. it was an easy swap, however, you must be careful as some clips are tremendously fragile. It also really helps to remove the rear driver's wheel.
