That's Two

For those who don't regularly surf MV.net. Does this sound familiar?http://www.matrixvibe.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3629As I see it, that's two GT's with pulleys and dead oil pumps. Now they said the cam gear failed too, so it's hard to say which went first. But, I think I'll steer clear of the crank pulley for a bit.

138 mph (supposedly) for 20 min... CEL comes on and he goes back to 120 for another 20 min. Yeah... gotta be the pulley. (removed) is wrong with people?

Yes, I read it too. I never said the driving habits didn't figure into it. I'm just stating that it is two that have had the exact same part fail with the exact same mods. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, I'm no mechanic, I just posted as food for thought.

Definitely. But Nova and Mitro, would the running he gave it kill it on its own (it obviously won't help) or could the mods figure into it at all. I know that popping the rev-limiter can't be good on it, but would that have caused the oil pump to fail or did the pump fail and cause the rest of the damage? And what could have caused the pump to fail? I've read some about crank pulleys being off balance causing oil pumps to fail. After more thought on this one, it does seem more likely that it was just negligence.

The story's bull. Rev limit in 5th is 150mph and unattainable. 4th is about 120mph, not the speed claimed. He may have been going fast but you can't bounce off the rev limiter at top speed which is a tad over 130mph though the speedos read a bit higher. I haven't tried but top speed has been done on forums.

If you've got a FI/Nitrous or your clutch is slipping. A GT/XRS wont 8400 rpm rev limit in 5th.
