Hey everyone,

First post here! I have a 2010 2.4L 5-Speed Automatic Pontiac Vibe which I've driven for the last 7 years. It's been one heck of a ride. It is now at 110K, and I'd like to get it to 210K. I still drive it like a speed demon, because with the torque and HP to weight ratio, it's almost hot-hatchish. This beautiful stallion has been driven from Minnesota to California to Minnesota to North Carolina and back to California again, and it's never skipped a beat.

I've been regular with the oil changes at 5k intervals. I've had the transmission fluid replaced at 75k. Filters, all that. But now it's time to reward the car for its service. I'd like to make it close to good as new, and I've got some questions for you guys about that.

I'm looking to invest ~4k back into the car to get it to 210k. Here's what I can think of:

- Serpentine Belt
- All New Struts
- Front Brakes and Rotors (Rear brakes already replaced)
- New tires (and some nice low-cost black rims)

What else should I do? Are my expectations realistic? What do you guys think?

EDIT: Sidenote, if it's important, I drive exclusively in 5-Speed Sports mode.

Welcome to GenVibe hotdogg :D For starters, fill out your location profile so we have a general idea where you're at! The climate that your Vibe is driven will make a huge difference in how & what you do to it next to assure another 100, 200, 300K miles! By now there should be several 09-10 Vibes that have exceeded 300k miles with little if any major expenses incurred. Fortunately for me, my two 2009 Vibe GT's have relatively low mileage (27k & 102K miles) and have not needed anything major done to them yet. Others here with higher mileage can chime in and offer you suggestions based on their personal experience. Thanks for joining up here and visit often!

I don't have an 2009-2010, but my 03 is at 265k miles. As usual, take care of them and they'll take care of you. Keep up on the regular maintenance. As you get up there in miles, sometimes it may feel like it's starting to nickel and dime you to death. If you're reaching that point, you might want analyze to see if it's worth what you're putting into it. In my case, I need new struts, ball joints, etc. While it's a lot more than I wanna put into it, it is on ALL original suspension so it's worth fixing to keep her rollin'.

Hotdogg:

Are you saying you plan on dumping 4 large into the car at one time? Please don't. Just imagine you get the car back and some idiotic smart phone double tasker hits your priced possession the next day. Put this money into a special savings account you call Travel and Transport or something like that. Keep adding to that and if a need for repair arises you know where to take it from. Only do the regular maintenance and do repairs only when necessary.

....oh yeah: drive a lot because you have 100K to go to get to your target.

I just purchased a 2009 Vibe 2.4L automatic for my teen son with 115K miles on it. I did the following:
1) brake fluid replaced --> $7
2) Trans fluid drained and filled twice ---> $35
3) Air and cabin filters ---> $15
4) 4 KGB struts ---> $250
5) Front/Rear brakes ---> $130
6) Spark plugs --> $15
7) Coolant flush --> $20
8) Headlamps polished and sealed --> $10
9) Oil change --> $30

So I spent about $500 to have the car runs and lasts another 100K. The car runs like new now. If you do it yourself, you can save a lot of money.

By the way, the previous owner informed us the engine consumes a quart of oil every 2,000 miles. I removed the spark plugs and added few ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil (MMO) into each cylinder and soaked for couple of days. Siphoned the MMO (prevent hydro-lock) and changed oil . Added about 8 ounces of the MMO the crank case. My son has been driving it for 1500 miles and oil level remains the same. So, if you have an issue with burning oil, try this method and it may work for you. Good luck!

Throttle body and MAF cleaning. I will just add a power steering flush for giggles. Easy to do with a syringe or turkey baster.

2009 Vibe uses electric powering steering so there's no fluid to change.
