Hmm....has no Pontiac qualities to it...but you're right, it's from a true source...I stand corrected. My apologies.

Sorry to be rude, but lately I have been getting alot of smart@$$ comments - getting a little sick of it. Probably should have included the link in the original post! I *think* this new GA is on a different based platform also, same from GP Im thinking.

Could be...Reason I said it had no Pontiac qualities is that one thing at least always carries over in every Pontiac design - "cat-eye" style headlamps...and yes, the front of the car is hidden, but I don't see a resemblence...I dunno...I can almost always spot a Pontiac, old or new, from MILES away...but that just didn't shout Pontiac to me.Sorry to sound like an authority, I'm anything but...I just didn't see anything on that car that shouts Pontiac to me...including the wheels even...

From what I read, the next GA will have a new name and will be similar to the G6 concept. So, that is probably a good picture of it. I believe that Lutz is getting rid of all of the Pontiac cladding. It may be difficult to get used to, but I for one, believe that the G6 concept looked like a new, modern version of a Pontiac.

It's hard to make out, but the Pontiac grill is behind the black cover. The car does have the same looks and lines of the new Grand Prix and a little of the Vibe. I do think it's time for the ugly cladding to go.

You know what the new GA is?? A pontiac badged newly styled Malibu! Compare the headlights! I hate it when they do this! They need to be unique and indepedent and not look sooo close to their cousins...

I dont' see much plastic on there...just some side spears, that's about it...Keep in mind all the disgusing they do to keep the true design under wraps...

Sorry, I misspelled some stuff in the other post (dang beer)! What I meant to say is that Pontiac hasn't changed anything about the GA until now. They've only added plastic. Must be a GM thing. Ex: Aztec, Avalanche, Camaro, Sunfire, etc.The new GA isn't my taste, but at least it's TOTALLY redesigned!

Go take a look (the pics gotta be out there somewhere on the web) at a late-'60s Chevy Malibu, Pontiac LeMans, Olds Cutlass and Buick Skylark. It's funny how they all seemed to have distinctive styling at the time, but are so very similar on things like the C pillar and beltline. So, GM (and all the rest) have been doing variations on a common platform for decades. Sometimes they do a good job, sometimes the clone shows through.Anyway, is this a disguised Grand Am? If you look at the lower edge of the headlights, the downward-towards-the-center-of-the-car character line looks like it would continue (into the black void) to define a lower edge to a Pontiac-style grill opening, almost identical to the Vibe's. The smooth sides look like several of Pontiac's recent concept cars and, although bland, are handsome enough when seen from the right angle. Such a grill, and the lack of the new Malibu's fender lines, should set this one apart (at least as well as GM did in the '60s).

quote:Ok, which is the C pillar? Is that the one that goes down from the roof to the trunk area?Yes. You letter the pillars from front to back. The windshield pillar is always the "A" pillar. If the car is a 4 door, the post between the doors is the "B" pillar. Also, a 2-door sedan (not a hardtop) has a "B" pillar behind the door. On a 2-door coupe (hardtop), the post from the rear of the roof to the trunk is the "B" pillar. On a 4-door or a 2-door sedan, it's the "C" pillar.

What's a 2-door sedan? Isn't that like an oxy moron?

Many moons ago, the term coupe and sedan meant different things. A coupe was 2-door hardtop. That is a car with no window frames on the doors and no post between the door and rear quarter windows. A sedan was a car with door window frames and a post between the front and rear windows. These were also called "post" cars. Here are some Nova pics to help. Both are 1966 Novas:2-door coupe:2-door sedan:Notice the different roofline, rear quarter windows and the window frame on the door of the sedan.
