so i was on a date last night and we went to the drive in movies. they have these antenna clips that hook on to your antenna and then they transmit the signal for the movie audio threw your radio. anyways..so i attach it. the signal is all static like and hard to hear. so, i mess around with it a bit and come to the conclusion its the plastic coating around the antenna that is messing it up. make a long story short, i ended up stripping the attaching wire and unscrewing the antenna a bit and then attaching the 2 so it was metal to metal contact. that worked great! so if your goin to the drive in and they have the same set up, remember your leather man tool!

no, its fine. maybe i should clarify. i unscrewed the anttenna and attached the stripped wire to the threaded part of the attenna and then just screwed it tight till the wire stayed wrapped around.

Buy a ring shaped quick connect like I used for my horn install, and then just screw the antenna down over it...then just clip the receiver to the stem that sticks out. Should make metal to metal much easier .I would just advise removing it whenever you don't need it so there is not threat of rusting.

Wow...a drive-in movie theater is still open? There used to be one down the road about a mile and a half that was torn down years ago, but I remember my parents taking me to see movies there when I was a kid. (I remember seeing "Herbie the love bug" there.)quote:so i was on a date last night and...Who's the lucky guy??? (sorry, had to add that)

I guess the drive-in owner assumes everyone must at least have an FM radio with antenna in their car. I remember when I was buying my first few cars (in the late 70s and early 80s) that any kind of radio was an option that cost extra. I also remember the drive-ins around my neighborhood having heavy metal-encased speakers you had to hang on your car window to hear the movie. At least that strategy kept those who would park on the hill behind the drive-in lot from enjoying the movie for free. And with satellite radio making inroads, it won't be too long before you'll have many cars coming with no FM because the car came with sat. radio.KSNeptune
